happy december, folks :D this is a weird one—because i honestly hated it for most of the time I was drawing it, and then I liquified it and i actually kind of love it now??? also ✨ height difference ✨ anyways onto the process (arrow keys, space, or click to move) - - - 0 - final product! 1 - VERY rough sketch 2 - more sketch 3 - lineart! to be honest, I jumped into this a lot sooner than I would have expected myself to (if I had this sketch normally I would finagle it quite a bit more) and this is so old now that I don’t *really* remember why… I think I was just trying to put aside perfectionism but it did backfire a bit in that I kind of hated it at this stage lol but it also was beneficial because i finished this drawing a lot faster that my average screencap ^^ 4 - colors (+ colored lineart) 5 - background! to be perfectly honest, I have no clue what’s actually happening here lol (I haven’t watched the episode this is from—which is, i think, never again) 6 - I blurred the background (it doesn’t look like its different, but it is!) 7 - dark shading (I used two—maybe three—separate layers, which is how I achieved the much darker shading and then the dark layer over everything without doing any light shading yet at this stage) this was a bit of a pain. like most steps in this process PFFt 8 - here I did a bit of light shading/overlay—basically just to get the tones more similar 9 - light shading (this isn’t perfect but i also kind of like it… if that makes sense) 10 - overlay layer over everything. i was trying to make the colors more dull like the reference and it worked a bit, but not quite as much as it needed. oh well ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 11 - t e x t ur e s 12 - some liquify! this saved the drawing for me i think. you might not notice as big a difference, but the slight tilt of his eye and the shape of their mouths really fixed it for me :) 0 - final - - - art - moi screencap/characters - x-files audio - accidental light by sleeping at last - - - can you tell how deep my obsession goes yet?
