Description

Poptrak history: 1970s: Founding and classic routes Formed in 1970, Poptrak was formed as a new rail network for America. The first routes were based in Silicon Valley, allowing young entrepreneurs and regular commuters to get around the many businesses of the location. Poptrak began purchasing railway routes and purchasing new equipment to replace the old inherited equipment. 1980-1990: Times of change Around this time, the company expanded to more routes all over America, using Silicon Valley as a main hub for all of their long distance trains. They would open rail yards and new station due to this expansion. Around this time, the previous 01123 coach cars (not to be confused with the 01123As and 01123Bs and the cab cars) Were no longer useful. The same thing occurred with the Skylevels. Brand new equipment went into service, such as the new Megaliners, and the Flyfleet cars, as well as the Metrocruiser commuter EMUs made to run commuters up the Northeast Corridor. New locomotives were also ordered. 2000-2017: Excelling into a new era The 2000s marked the introduction of the updated 01123B Flyfleet 2 cars, an upgraded design of the Flyfleet 1s. Around this time, most Metrocruiser were converted into cab cars, as new electric locomotives replaced them. However, Poptrak was working on a new service called the Silicon Glider, which would be Americas first high-speed electric train. The name was changed to Excella for some reason. These would enter service in 2005. In 2017, Poptrak would plan to create a successor to the Excella, codenamed the Excella Onward. It was eventually revealed that the actual name was the Excella Chipper. 2018-2023: Locked away Around 2018, it was scheduled for 20 of the Excella Chipper trainsets to be made and shipped in 2020, but due to an event called POVID (yes), everyone was locked in their homes. The unfinished trainsets stayed in storage until around 2021-2022, some people could start working again. The trainsets ended up being finished in late 2022, and entered service early 2023. Edit from 9/16/24, that parody comment aged poorly.
