Hello! This is my first ever WTA entry! This ins entering for Neon exoskeleton! And ofc you can draw this! It would look awesome! [ the character is this story is not just like, one of my oc’s I pulled out of my storage, I just made him up today, so I haven't drawn him before- have no idea of his design, I honestly just made him out of pure fun, as writing anything should be! I just thought, what should I write about? The oceans? Cats? … Ocean cats it is. Enjoy] -CHAPTER 1- Vixen took a shaking step towards the unknown, slowly pulling his head down to stare into the pitch black open gap of a cliff that sat below him. This was the end it seemed. Vixen was a sea-cat. One of the many creatures that called the ocean depths its home. One of the many creatures that seemed too crazy, too fantastical- to ever exist. Though of course, Vixen was very much existing- unfortunately. He had grown up part of the royal family, one of the many brothers of the beloved princesses that were a rare sight. Their silky white pelts and bright red-pink fins made them stick out like a sore thumb amongst the whole tidal wave of princes that seemed to flood every corner of the palace, their scales dark and unflattering. The princesses were treated as gods. Having the full attention of the King and Queen. Being shown to the public, not pushed away like the brothers. They were praised so highly because of one- one, prophecy that an elder had spoken of, using his last breaths, the words stained with death. He foretold that one princess would be a savior, bringing their species justice against the land animals that had pushed them into the waters so many centuries ago, she would save them all with her godly powers. This gave the King and queen such distress, for they had only ever had sons. They had four sons back then. No girls had ever been born into the royal family besides the queen herself. So with the strong requests of the townsfolk, they tried and tried and tried to have a daughter. Son after son after son. Hope exploded through the village like wild flames, as unexpectedly, their 19th child- was in fact a girl. The King and queen rushed to the center of town, where a crystal lay- according to the prophecy, the daughter would be laid on the crystal. If it glowed- she was the chosen one. And if not- then unfortunately they would have to try again. And as you can assume- the crystal did not glow. Years later there are now 32 princes and 3 princesses- 3 very non-godly princesses. Yet mother and father- the king and queen, still treat them as if they were. They do not have any interest in their useless, unhelpful, boring sons- such as Vixen. Now he stands at the edge of a bottomless pit. In the center of the ocean, a huge crack splits apart the smooth sandy floors, opening into darkness. He has been banished after being deemed cursed, sent to jump into the pit and seemingly die. Why? Because surprise, surprise, his disease of a sister had told their parents so. It was only today. Fate shifting, doom calling today. He had walked into the center of town, following his glowing sisters as they floated across the sandy paths. They had come to admire the crystal. It was their new favorite activity- to touch the crystal everyday to see if by some miracle it will glow. They liked to bring Vixen along with them. For one reason. Pearl, one of his sisters, says that Vixen has to tell mother and father that it is her who makes the light glow, even if one of the other two makes it glow. Vixen, bored out of his scales, agrees and follows along with them. Today they touched the crystal and it didn’t glow, of course. But something changed. Something tugged on Vixen's small paws- calling him towards the underwhelming crystal their town worshiped. He edged closer ever so slowly, reaching with one paw, stretching up to just have the tiniest tap of the side if it. It felt like the whole world came crashing down- the seaweed covered rock walls that surrounded the town piling over and crushing everything- mostly Vixen's life. For the crystal- in those few world shaking seconds- glowed.
[story continued] Pearl, and his other sisters had erupted. They scrambled around furiously, running back to the palace, crying to mother and father of the impossible events that had just unfolded. Pearl spoke above the rest, her voice laced in jealousy and utter hatred. “It’s a curse mother! A curse! The prophecy foretold that I- a princess would be the savior not that rock dwelling sea slug!” She whined. She carried on, eventually managing to convince mother and father. Or more like the king and queen being utterly shocked and humiliated that their special prophecy child was sitting under their noses all along, that they were in denial and threw their whole life purpose away into the empty seas. They didn’t watch him leave sadly, or even say goodbye- no one did. Because no one cared- no one cared about Vixen. He had cried. His tears bubbling and floating away into the sky, slowly drifting higher and higher to reach the untouchable surface of the waves. Now snap back to reality and Vixen still wavers at the edge of the cliff, his heart drowning in the ever rising misery. His gazed fixes down on his paws as he thinks; what are the amazing powers I have? How much destruction do these paws hold that could wipe away our enemies? It seemed to Vixen at that moment that this was all a lie from the start- I mean, the man was at his last heart beat, how could he make sense out of anything? Then suddenly Vixen was snatched from the sea bead like a tree quickly uprooted by a storm. He was flung by the current like an unwanted lunch across the small chunk of land that stood between him and the hole. Down he fell, down he sank- down he disappeared. Never to be seen again by the no one who cared for him, by the no one who would miss him. He squeezed his eyes shut as he plummeted lower and lower into the abyss. He hit the ground softly, pale dusty sand flying up around his out of place paws in the dark world. He opened his eyes to see…nothing. It was all pitch black besides the small bit of ground below him that could be seen in the very dim glow his body radiated. Though down here, it wasn’t so dim. He blinked, is this really how he was going to die? Slowly starving in the enclosed darkness that seemed to be closing in by the second. He curled up in a ball, sobbing quietly to himself. “Stupid prophecy! Stupid old man! Where are my godly powers to help me now huh?! Why don’t I just lift up a paw and let fire tear through the water, binding against the liquid?!” He yelled, his voice seemed to be stuck near him like a cloud, the dark seeming to hold it in. He screamed in anger, breaking the invisible wall and hearing it echo out into the unknown. He stopped screaming, opening his eyes to see something. It was moving. A small light in the distance, bobbing up and down, growing bigger as it neared. “Wha..?” Vizen mumbled, taking a few steps forward. As the light reached closer he saw features illuminated by the foggy white-blue light. Finally the light came close enough for Vixen to make out what it was- a sea-cat. One with huge spiky spines, and ragged fins. Big pointed eyes and most unusually, a large antenna that hung in front of its face- a glowing light hanging from the end of it. It leaned closer to Vixen's face, and Vizen felt his heart beating in his chest, clawing at his skin. “Hello” [and that’s the end of chapter one!
