I hope you enjoy, and thank you for considering my application! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I made the text really large for accessibility reasons, but here’s a transcript just in case it’s not accessible to everyone: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Intro: Hello! Welcome to my manager application for the Gaehive! This is mainly for the managers to look at, but you’re more than welcome to stick around and take a look at this, even if you’re not a manager! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1a. About me: I’m Sky, but you can also call me Ruby. I’m an aroace demigirl, and my pronouns are they/she. ————————————————————— 1b. How long have I been a part of the Gaehive?: Although I’m not exactly sure the exact day that I joined the Gaehive, from what I *do* know, it was sometime between February and March, but probably closer to early March. I’m one of the newer members, as I’ve only been a member for around 8-9 months, but in this short period of time I have found a community of people who I can trust like family <22 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2a. Age/Age Range: I’m pretty open about my age on Scratch, so I’ll just say my age. I’m 16 years old :) ————————————————————— 2b. What times am I usually online at?: I’m usually online in the afternoons, evenings, and/or at nighttime, but I often also check in whenever I feel like saying hello. I’m also often on a little bit later at night for a couple reasons: ~ My timezone, Mountain Standard Time (MST), is two hours behind Eastern Standard Time (EST). ~ I also have a habit of staying up slightly later than I probably should (usually around 12-1 MST). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 3. Why would I be a great choice for being the next manager of the Gaehive?: Here’s some reasons that I can think of as to why I would be useful to have as a manager: ~ My Experience: I have experience with managing a similar studio (The Project BOP Studio). I have been successful with managing said studio, and I believe that I can apply my experience with it to help me with the Gaehive. ~ Active: On a scale of 1 to 10 based on how active I am (1 being the least active; 10 being the most), I’d say that I’m probably at a 9 or a 10, which is a good thing for when you’re managing a large studio. I’m also almost always active during nighthive, regardless of whether I say something in the hive or not. There have been numerous trolls during nighthive since fewer people are usually online. I could help out with trying to solve the problem (ex. remind people to report and ignore), since I’m usually online during these hours. ~ Solving Conflicts: One of the things that I think I could be the most helpful at is solving conflicts. I’m pretty good at it, and I can be pretty reasonable about it too. For example, if people got into an argument because someone didn’t use a caps warning before typing in all caps, then I would politely ask them why they didn’t use a caps warning instead of just yelling at them to use one, which will only cause more drama in most cases. Then I would remind them to use a caps warning next time, and let everyone else involved know that the conflict has been resolved. ~ Rarely Muted/Banned: Because of my experience with Project BOP I know that people who are more easily banned pose a risk to the studio if they get banned during their hosting turn. Luckily, I’m not prone to any of this. I’ve never been banned in the just over 5 years that I’ve been on Scratch for, and I only get muted sometimes. When I do get muted, it’s mostly for just 5 minutes. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 4. What are some cons to keep in mind while considering promoting me?: ~ Newer Member: By the time manager applications closes this time around, I will have been a part of the Gaehive for not quite a year. This may make me less experienced for this than many others applying for manager, who have been a member for much longer. ~ Forgetful: I can sometimes be very forgetful, especially when it comes to due dates for stuff. This can become an issue if I have to remember the exact day that I have to switch the host to another manager, so I may need the dates written down somewhere that I can look at. ~ Not Often Very Serious: As stated, I’m not very serious unless I absolutely need to be. I tend to goof off a little, especially during nighthive, which may affect how well I am able to manage the studio. ~ Can Be Busy: There can be times where I will be really busy as high school often eats away at my free time. It usually isn’t too bad to the point where I wouldn’t be able to host, but it *is* possible, so I thought I’d be better off putting this here. I’ll most likely let everyone know if this ends up ever being the case. (continued in Notes and Credits)

Description

(continued) This can also happed during the summertime, as I’m on vacation a lot in the summer. Again, I’ll most likely say so if I can’t host during a specific time. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 5. What are some unique things that I can bring to the Gaehive if I’m a manager?: Believe me when I say that I have *plenty* of ideas for unique things to do in the Gaehive! I especially want to bring some fun activities and games to the hive! One of my many ideas is to have a space-themed hive since the Gaehive’s motto is “A safe *space* for all!”. This would include some space-related trivia or some space-related games. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 6. My Stance on Some of the Gaehive’s Current Issues: Lately, there’s been a few issues in the Gaehive that I feel need to be addressed, such as negativitea (aka negativity). Here’s my opinion on some of these things: ~ Excessive Negativity: There have been times where there’s been far more negativity than we need in the Gaehive. I think a good solution for this problem would be to have a set time for a Positivity Hour every day, like at 3-4 pm MST (5-6 pm EST), for example, where we’d lighten the mood and give other people appreciation posts. We’ve already used this trick many times before to successfully lighten the mood, so I think routinely Positivity Hours would help a ton. ~ Hostility Towards Newcomers: There have been time where newcomers here did not feel welcome. I have seen happen before, and it makes me feel bad for the newcomer each time. I think that this breaks Rule 1, which says to support each other and be kind. While it is understandable to be a little skeptical of someone, especially if they’ve previously lost your trust in them, it doesn’t make it right to be mean to them. I think anyone who is being mean to newcomers should be reminded that it breaks Rule 1 asap. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 7. What I Would Improve: I would try my best to improve the Gaehive by spreading kindness and positivity. I would be able to help out with this by using the ideas I listed earlier: ~ If someone isn’t being kind, I would politely let them know that what they’re doing isn’t okay. ~ To avoid excessive negativity, we could dedicate a certain time of day to a Positivity Hour each day. ~ Games/trivia to help lighten the mood and have fun with. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 8. Recommendations: Here’s some people that I think should be considered for being elected as manager! ~ Pastel! (@pastel-paints) I think Pastel should be considered! I really think their manager application was really well thought out, and knowing them, they’d make an amazing manager if chosen! ~ Cakes! (@carovity) I think that Cakes would do an outstanding job as manager! Cakes is already an amazing member, so I can’t see why Cakes wouldn’t also make an amazing manager to have! Cakes’ manager application is also outstanding! ~ Jay! (@Soaring-Jay) Jay would make an amazing manager! They’re one of the more active members, which is very important. He’s also one of the members that I have been looking up to for a very long time, and I know that a lot of the hive would agree that xe would make a great addition to the managers! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Outro: That’s about everything that I can think of that needs to be addressed in this project! Thanks for making it to the end of this slightly long project, and good luck to everyone applying for manager! Managers, thanks for giving us this opportunity, and I hope you consider my application while choosing the next manager(s)! Have a great day/night, and see you in another project, or in the Gaehive! ~ Ruby / Sky <22
