At around 11:00 AM(Alaska time), the ONSS Gemini destroyer picked up an unidentified aircraft on radar. Two OAF F-30s and a Navy F-26 were scrambled to intercept. The Air Force, after failing to scare it away, successfully downed the airplane. It has not been recovered, but description by the pilots and footage from the fighters' gun cameras make it clear that the offending aircraft was an F-89 fighter, the main fighter of the Lake Republic. It is unknown how the fighter was able to operate so far from home or why the flight even took place. Since the incident, no more LR planes have been spotted in our airspace.
