(those i personally know have a higher chance at the latter) bioluminescent water/glowing island always night OR the tribes are mostly nocturnal mystic vibe glowy mushrooms/roots/towering trees deer-cat herd (glowing antler markings? or bioluminescent paint on the face/antlers to signify rank) fish-cat tribe (glowy seawing-like markings used to communicate) mysterious, massive predator tribe (mass genocide war long ago so the ‘prey/docile’ tribes fled to this island and live in harmony now) the fish-cats' fish tails have these hidden 'pockets' of sorts on each side of them for them to tuck their hind legs into when swimming for more aerodynamicness(?) kits and apprentices taught of the ancient wars and the lands of old to help them in their training training in both tribes are fairly intense; lives filled with several ceremonies and rituals deer-cats (named temporarily) often use grunts and clicks to communicate in private and are fluent in a language all their own despite living in harmony, tensions are rising between the two tribes/clans as disputes are brewing about whether or not the ‘predator’ tribe cursed this island long ago and the spell is only now taking effect slowly and whether they should flee again or fight for their home this time fish-cats have tiny, glittering scales scattered throughout their coat that have to be well-taken care of, especially since they dry out easily fish/aquatic-cats are very skilled with spears and even clubs whilst deer-cats have their paws and hooves at the bow and arrow deer-cats are mostly vegetarians while fish-cats tend to be more on the omnivore side fish-cats will often keep/raise smaller fish/sea creatures as companions, deer-cats tried to mimic this behavior by taming jackalopes over the island which are typically used to spy/gather information to relay to the deer-cats in sniffs and whistles. jackalopes are extraordinarily loyal to the deer-cat they choose to bond to deer-cats can come in several different breeds but the standard are white-tails, fallow and mule (there are a large amount of fanged musk deer as well, however) fish-cats have a wider range of species and can come as anything from a simple fish, dolphin, koi, eels, or even a whale as long as it’s considered a ‘fish’ (so excluding things like starfish, crabs, lobster, ext) deer-cats tend to be more laid-back and familial while fish-cats are really into royalty/hierarchy and training/fighting deer-cats have a massive, fairly hidden society in both the treetops and forest floor, most of their buildings/structures constructed of thickly-woven grass, wood, and other natural materials fish-cats ‘dry out’ easily to tend to stick very close to bodies of water when on land; they mostly reside in a huge collection of underwater ‘castles’ and ruins carved in stone but are often more spread out in their habitat than deer-cats and might not see eachother often (as the fish-cat tribe is significantly larger than the deer-cats’) fish-cats’ breeds/species typically depend on where they’re hatched (fish-cats lay eggs and are even able to reproduce asexually occasionally); more common species of fish-types found in the sunnier shallows while darker-colored anglerfish-type breeds (for an example) usually dwell in the deep darks of the ocean the two tribes meet up for a massive meeting of their leaders every two full moons elaborate rituals of submission are required when entering this meeting-room and when approaching a very high-ranked specimen, especially if you yourself aren’t upper-class very avatar: the way of water mystical vibe in terms of territory despite the two tribes being the dominant species’ of the island, there are still some hybrid dinosaur-type creatures that are even bigger that migrate across the island yearly and are highly respected in terms of culture some fish-cats can glide using the webs under their arms and in between their toes. deer-cats counter this by being able to leap extraordinarily high into the air there are still a few predator-type creatures around the island so be careful! also, tread lightly, for there are hundreds of highly toxic and dangerous plants/fungi scattered around
