Learn to Count in Chinese ========== At the beginning of the project, you'll be prompted to enter in 'tutorial' (to review Chinese numbers) or 'game' to go into game mode. You have the option to go from tutorial mode into game mode by clicking on me in the project should you feel ready to take on the challenge. :D In tutorial mode, press any key on the keyboard (numbers 1 through 9) to see their characters. Click the Scratch Cat if you want him to read the number. In game mode, you'll be asked ten addition and subtraction problems with the numbers displayed in Chinese. At the end, the Scratch Cat will tell you your score. You can then either review or play again.
The term 'Chinese' in this project is actually a misnomer as there is no such thing as a single Chinese writing system. The characters here are just the ones that you are most likely to encounter (and the ones you should know when playing a game of mah-jong!) Yes, the background is that plain and ugly. I didn't feel like drawing one. :P Music is an adapted score of an original composition I made called "Asian Melody". The instrument used for this project is called a koto(#108), which is a Japanese instrument (apparently, I can't find any Chinese instruments in the MIDI instrument list, go figure :P, but the koto does have some Chinese origins so it was the only good choice at the time). I might add more games to this series to teach how to count to ten and beyond. :)
