"The first-ever Punkleton came to be in a very unusual manner, at least according to one spooky story told around campfires during crisp autumn nights. A sizeable pumpkin patch bathed in pure moonlight was suddenly struck by a bolt of lightning. The intense light and heat burned holes in many of the pumpkins, drawing the attention of some passing Thumpies. When the curious Monsters investigated, they noticed that the scorched pumpkins bore a striking resemblance to scary faces. Imagine the Thumpies' surprise when one of the gourds sprouted skeletal arms and legs, sprang to its feet and spooked them out of their wits!
