He was back to normal, and he acted like nothing had happened, but Nutpaw bore the scars of his claws. Nutpaw wondered whether she should ask him about it or not. She decided. "Hey Shadepaw, three days ago you-" Shadepaw looked confused. Then he had a moment of realization and started smacking himself. "Are you okay?" Shadepaw looked at her. "I- um, sorry about that, whatever it was." Shadepaw stammered. "What do you mean?" Shadepaw looked relieved. "So Ferndeath never did anything?" He whispered to himself. Nutpaw looked at him with curiosity. "Who's Ferndeath?" Shadepaw looked scared. "N-no one." Nutpaw shook her head. "We're friends, okay? You can tell me whatever's been going on." Nutpaw braced herself for his attack, but it never came. "O-okay, fine. But as long as you help me with it." Nutpaw nodded. "I've been training with the Dark Forest." Nutpaw gasped. "B-but.. What about Tinypaw?" Shadepaw looked down. "Tinypaw.." He muttered, eyes filled with sorrow. "I didn't mean to train with them, because they looked like they were from Starclan." Nutpaw looked at him in acknowledgement. "When you first go there, there is no way to tell." Nutpaw said. Duskstorm padded by. "What are you talking about?!" Shadepaw and Nutpaw looked at eachother. "Nothing." Shadepaw said. Nutpaw shook her head. "We were talking about the kits. Do you know when we could meet them?" Shadepaw smiled at her. "I think you can see them right now." Duskstorm replied. He walked off. "Quick thinking!" Shadepaw said when Duskstorm was out of range. "Let's go see the kits anyways." Shadepaw and Nutpaw walked to the Nursery. Two tiny bundles of fur lay squeaking next to their mother. One was dark gray, and the other was a tiny tortoiseshell. "What're their names?" Nutpaw asked, looking at the kits, and memorizing every hair on their fluffy pelt. "This one's Meadowkit," Turtlerose said, gestering to the dark gray tabby. "And this one's Echokit. Pointing at the tortoiseshell. "Two she-cats." She said, smiling. Quillpaw and Quickpaw walked in. "Look at them!" Quilpaw shrieked. "So cute!" Quickpaw yelled. The kits began screaming. "Look what you've done! I just got them to be quiet!" The medicine cat, Softtail screamed. The kits screamed even louder. Nutpaw backed away, ears flat, while Shadepaw ran out of the den. Nutpaw met him outside. "Don't they know that's making it worse?" Shadepaw said as Quillpaw yelled that she was sorry. "I can't take the noise!" Nutpaw said, holding her ears. The elders walked out of their dens. "WHAT'S GOING ON!!!!!!!!" One of them yelled at the top of their lungs. And with that, the noise began to get quieter. It was still going, so Nutpaw walked in to check. To her surprise, Echokit was up, her eyes opened, and she was quiet. On the other hand, Meadowkit was screaming her head off. Echokit walked up to her. "Hi Nutpaw!" Nutpaw was so confused. Echokit looked like she was now 5 moons old, even though she was born last night. And she knew her name! Echokit walked out of the den. "Hey Shadepaw, can we play that game again?" Shadepaw trotted up to her and smiled. "Sure! Nutpaw, do you want to play?" Nutpaw was so confused. What games could they've played? She heard a voice behind her. "Ok!" She turned around, and to her surprise, it was herself. She looked at her paws. They were translucent. She gasped in astonishment. Next to her, someone squeaked. She turned. It was Echokit- but Echokit also was translucent. She stared and then turned back to the non-translucent versions of them. There was a yell in the background. Everywhere started to grow dark. "I've got to go, Echokit." Shadepaw and herself ran off. Then a shadow loomed over non-translucent Echokit. Echokit shrieked with wide eyes. The Echokit next to her grabbed her leg and held it tight. A dark paw with claws unsheathed went strait at the older Echokit. "Echokit!" Next: Not done yet
