Lore on how he got corrupted (My take): During the corruption stage, the Darkness replaced majority of his left arm with a broken metal rod, and it fused his dagger with his right hand. His legs were torn apart, and his bones were liquified and converted into the Darkness (so technically he's a walking bag of glitchy liquid). He also gained an eye inside his mouth.
