RELIGION :: religion is a big thing in the clan, and beliefs are passed down from generations to generations. there are two main religions in the clan, one of which depend on whimsical objects and charms and the others attracted to the soul and life beyond death. . . . the first, which go by many names ( the followers of morning doves / doves / foxes / moon ) are often seen as head-in-the-clouds woe-is-me type of feline- although, of course, this isn't always true. they do, however, heavily rely on signs from their moon deities, or, most commonly, their reps. what are reps ? reps are representations of higher beings in everyday things, such as wildlife and the world around you. these can vary from a blade of grass to a forest creature, although don't often stay the same. the doves often seek out interesting aspects in life and search for beauty in everyday things. because of this, traits found in cats such as purple eyes, bobtails, and even things such as small teeth are seen as blessings from certain reps. but this also comes with the other side of the story- yellow eyes, sharp teeth, and genetic disorders are seen as cursed. just like how they look down upon certain traits and look up to others, the doves do the same to reps. some of the ' good ' reps include: morning doves ( ofc ) deer turkeys and here are some of the ' bad ' ones: crows / ravens bats snakes of course, every cat's reps are different, in terms of which animals they themselves deem lucky or unlucky. the doves hate crows- according to legend, the bird of night long ago used to eat the lost souls of the forest cats' ancestors, and thus they have created scarecrows around their crops, camp, and gravesites as sort of a spiritual thing. for afterlife, the doves see themselves coming back to the earth after five moons time as a rep themselves, observing and marking down which spirits are good and which are bad. ( sort of like keeping tally ) let's just say don't be a bad dove, you know :/ . . . i forgot i said this pff— maybe they follow the phases of the moon for like festivals and stuff? so every irl full moon will be a festival? (once every four moons) and instead of starclan maybe they believe in moon deities? (so polytheistic) and think of everything either having a pure or evil life force, even inanimate objects and such like water, a blade, or a fish. when you die you turn into a piece of the moon and your energy or life force distributes into the world and items. so they believe in cursed and blessed items too bc pure things (even pure fish) are blessed. these blessings are rare or pretty colors. so cats maybe with purple eyes are blessed cats and closer to the moon? but maybe a dat with paralyzed legs is cursed and avoided? so basically the crows are lost spirits or whatever so the crowspeaker, or head of the afterlife-based religion ( kinda like a preacher idk ) goes out and speaks to them and stuff. anyways, everyone's supposed to respect the two things and stuff but sometimes it feels like there are boundaries within the clan yk :/ omg maybe they can be called reapers or like harvest reapers snd they like reap the souls back the the earth to be closer to the world and maybe will find guidance like that? i was thinking maybe a thick forest that are stuck in the colors of reds, oranges, yellows, and browns. The air is crisp and many days there is fog. There are no seasons, just autumn all year round. Perhaps an old graveyard where they bury their cats. (there are tombstones from humans though) and there is a mausoleum that they go to for afterlife guidance? (maybe there is a divet in the ground they fill with water from a creek that runs throughout the territory?) also maybe there is a really small town that is on the outskirts that kittypets are rarely seen from? (previous kittypet origins not available to be a kittypet at the moment bc it means more work.) and maybe a big pumpkin patch and around it other crops they grow? in england festivals are hgeld under the moons becuase both the doves and crows celebtrae moon stuff sogjnbg
