Optimus Leader of the Autobots, he's a washed up veteran from the great Cybertronian War ready to do whatever it takes to end it and not bring their conflicts onto other planets. Optimus made the mistake of scattering his forces across many planets in the galaxy to recuperate since the Decepticons would only follow him. He had a small team with him initially that warded off the Decepticons from earth but when Megatron had opened a space bridge he called for reinforcements across the galaxy.
