The Virginian EL-C, later known as the New Haven EF-4 and E33. Was an electric locomotive built for the Virginian Railway by General Electric in August 1955. They were the first successful production locomotives to use Ignitron rectifier technology. They served their careers till the end later going into Penn Central and even Conrail. However when Conrail gave up running electric's the "Rectifiers" As they had been came to known were out of a job and many were scrapped or in the case of the Preserved examples abandoned.
