So, the newsletter finally came out. Unfortunately, Toby didn’t release 3-5. Here’s what he said about Chapter 3’s development: “We are continuing to work on Chapter 3! The Chapter got playable from beginning to end. After some restructuring and reshuffling of different parts, it's feeling quite good to go through. Can't say it's finished yet, but the unfinished parts are certainly seeming less and less numerous. That's good because try as I might to sleep, until the game is finished, I'll see nothing but nightmares...” Now I know it seems pretty grim, but I have hope. Because: TOBY NEVER SAID HE WASN’T RELEASING 3-5 THIS YEAR!! Now I might just sound crazy, stupid, and/or insane, but here me out… Last year, in the 2022 status update, Toby said that he had nothing to release that year. But this year, instead of deconfirming the release of the next few chapters, he said nothing about it.
Something else I find odd is something that I took from a random YT comment. PNats-fg4bw said: “Toby has been strangely silent about chapters 4 and 5 recently, and it's been one year since he said they had completed more than a chapter's worth of bullets, cutescenes and such. Makes me think we may be getting the new chapters sooner than we think? On the December Holiday, perhaps? You see, the reason he wants to release all 3, 4 and 5 at the same time is probably because they are more heavily connected, and he's been using chapter 3 as a distraction. We know it's not a story heavy chapter, its about entertainment, it's divided into small weird sections... but we know nothing about 4 and 5. If he released 3 alone, speculation would become heavier on 4 and it wouldn't be as much of a surprise. I wouldn't be surprised if chapter 6 was some kind of distraction too, to hide development of chapter 7.” One last thing about the newsletter I find odd is Toby’s frequent talks about sleep. (MAJOR SPOILERS FOR DELTARUNE CHAPTER 2) Toby kept mentioning sleep which kept making me think about the ending of Chapter 2 when Kris and Susie have a sleepover together.
