︶꒷♡꒷꒦︶꒦꒷♡꒷꒦︶꒦꒷♡꒷꒦︶꒦꒷♡꒷꒦︶♡꒷꒦︶♡꒷꒦︶ Chapter 1 “Chloe! It’s time to wake up! You don’t want to be late for your first day of 8th grade!!” My Dad called to me, followed by my alarm going off for the 3rd time in a row. “I’m coming!” I yelled back. I turned off my alarm, and sleepily crawled out of bed to head over to my closet. I picked out some forest green cargo pants and my white hoodie with giant sleeves. I attempted to find some matching socks, but suddenly all of my sock’s matches seemed to have played a little game of hide and seek while I was sleeping, and the game wasn’t over yet. I just chose the first two socks I could reach, (a blue one and a purple one) and raced to the bathroom to brush my hair. I have really, wavy dark blonde hair, and a couple days ago, I dyed parts of it blue, which I really love. After brushing my hair, I ran downstairs to have some breakfast. I sat down at my place to find eggs, bacon, and a glass of orange juice. As I’m eating, I notice that my Mom isn’t at her place at the table. “Where’s Mom?” I asked. “Oh, Mom’s going to New York for a business trip and she won’t be back until next Friday.” My Dad replied to me. “Okay, so it will just be you and me for the week.” “Yeah” My Dad said, “How about we go to McDonalds for dinner as a celebration for your first day back at school!” We rarely ever have McDonalds (or any fast food) so this will be a very special treat for the two of us. We don’t have it normally because my Mom doesn’t let me. “That sounds amazing Dad!” I said, happily. I finished my breakfast and put the plates in the sink. Then, I got a text from Lily, my best friend. I unplugged my phone and read, “I’m at your house to pick you up. Zoey and Jake are already with me” says the text. “Ok!! I’m getting ready to head out the door!” I replied. I put my phone in my pocket, tied the laces of my shoes and headed out the door. “Bye Dad!” I shouted behind me. I ran towards friends Lily, Zoey, and Jake on my front walkway. I joined them and we begin our walk to school. Since my house is the closest to school, and Lily’s is farthest from school, Lily picks up Jake on her walk to school, and then they pick up Zoey, and then they all pick up me. Zoey has some really cool long, black and white hair that she dyed a couple of summers ago, before 6th grade, which complements her dark skin tone and blue eyes very well. Zoey also comes up with the most amazing outfits. For the first day of school she’s wearing a black long-sleeved shirt and a white unzipped jacket where 1 sleeve is orange, and the other is green. She also has some bleached, ripped jeans, which complement the jacket really well. Lily has bright green eyes, short ginger hair tied up in two messy braids, and a purple off-the-shoulder long sleeved shirt with jean shorts. Jake has a white t-shirt on and bleached jeans. As we walked to school, we talked about our summer vacations. “What did you guys do for vacation?” I asked, “I went to Sweden for 2 weeks!” “That sounds so cool!” said Zoey, “I went to DisneyLand in California.” “I went to New York for the summer,” Jake replied. “I’m so jealous of all of you!” Lily exclaimed, “I just went up to Maine for a week. It was still fun, though.” We finished our walk to school and stepped inside, ready for the first day of 8th grade. A new year. New experiences, New opportunities, just waiting for us.
