It's that time of year again :") I'm sorry I didn't post that much this year- I got busy, and not only that, but through February and April it was a darker age for my art for a bit. At the time I didn't make much art, and when I tried, nothing went right, and I got really discouraged when I saw everyone else's art that was so good. I also didn't draw TOO much of STR, and…kinda drifted away from scratch for a bit as well in some parts. But I worked pretty hard on my art this year. I…I think I've improved? I hope? ;w; 1. At the beginning of this year, all of a sudden I was testing guidelines for myself and wanted to try rendering hair and clothes and stuff, and I drew Lillian! The background was done in March but ignore that *cough* 2-4. Me and John thought of a brilliant idea of drawing all our characters as ferrets- don't ask B) this is Nicoret, Flintret, and Rolaineret :")) 5. Pfp I made for @Lem0n-Tree_ when they came back to scratch for a bit! The lighting looks nice, and I like the lineart :'D 6. A Flint piece that took about a week and has 70 freaking layers on it :')) it's based off the song A Sky Full of Stars - Coldplay, and I think this still looks kinda good- but I HAVE improved wAIT HEY WHAT DO YOU SAY I REDO IT FOR A 1 YEAR COMPARISON HAHAHA B) 7-8. I held a vote project on which design I should use in STR, and these are a few of the designs! The second one shown here is what won, but I included the first as well because I like it lol 9-11. OTAPs for @StarclanCats! The first is a pfp of their OC Star, unshaded bust of…I forget his name- EMILE THAT'S IT anyways, then a scene of Pirate X :'P 12. TNE for @StarclanCats's MAP Mary On a Cross (obviously), with an unknown character of STR B)) it won :"DD 13. A scene long awaited at the time, Wave in the Land of Stars, a scene in the Rift rp :"D Yeah I got practice with night skies lol- Wave is owned by @johnsa26/John 14. (turn your brightness up) Another one of John's characters, another long awaited piece at the time lol. Edgy Jake B") I think I need to work on terrified characters- but that is some really heavy shading lol. I like the hand though :"0 15-16. I did some timed art >:") first is Rolaine at 30 mins (I used to conjure good pieces in 30 minutes s o b) and Cleo in 15 X'D there's more, they were just drawn later lol 17. I did a few style tests, and thought Frosty looked like a dog here lol. But I kept them because I…well, liked them :") 18. Sad Kale ;'DDD I kinda like this, this is when I was starting to find out how I would shade hair. I like the shading and lighting in this piece ;D 19. A random Flint art piece based off (again) another Coldplay song, Sparks. I like the setting and rendering, but when I take the rendering o f f…he looks a lil weird :') I think this is the only thing I would show in here that's in April- 20-21. Continuing from the art challenges, I did the no undo challenge with Flint and the one layer challenge with Shadowpaw, who I hadn't used in a while. You can see the spots where the lighting went off the lineart X'D 22. A TNE for Star's MAP Siren that I never finished. And guess why. It's Cleo B) this is when I was starting to get used to my shading style again haha 24-25. It all started with a conversation between Shadow and I, and I decided to redraw Crescent loafing B)) I also did Saffronpaw from ToPH loafing, and that challenged me a bit haha also the "3 and 8 mins" were saying how long it took to apply shading lol 26. A redraw of my first PS piece, drawn almost exactly a year from when the original was :')) I still like this- like those c l o u d s- and the g r a s s 27. AT with Star! I did a lot of things for Star alright- I showed a few sketches of what could've been a scene for the OTAP, and they wanted to see Pirate X eating cookies, so B)) 28. A random thingy I drew of a certain sibling of somebody (;) ) and I still kinda like how this looks haha. I remember the plaid shirt kiLLinG me though- 29. A (you guessed it) random Nico drawing ;'D here is where I did a few style tests and totally took a twist from the backgrounds I usually draw :') I love the hair though- this is probably one of the only things I drew digitally in July hA 30. I didn't draw much digitally in July like I said, I did mainly traditional X'D so we're skipping a bit ahead. This was what I drew for my (sort of) one year comparison art process on PS :'DD when I fINALLY drew John again lol the reason I put this in August is because TECHNICALLY John was drawn in August, but the background was done. In. October. U G H 31. TNE for @sourrpatchcat's MAP Are You Satisfied? B)) I used my man Cleo and tested whether people liked the book earring lol- didn't get much of an answer so it remains optional :") my dad really liked the earring though, soo- X'D
(cont.) 32. I redrew the thumbnail of the 2Powerful rp project, it looks more like water now lol- the bubbles were pain though :") 33. Now around here's where things started to kick off in art and started looking real good B)) Kale! I kinda based this off that one scene in the rp, see if you can pinpoint it, John :") I was super proud of this hehe- but the head's a little big. Well I'm glad my proportions hopefully improved hA 34. Anchor! I tested out a new rendering technique and it came out like this. 35. AT/DMCE for/with @Kizzy275! I technically did Dosu in like August/September, but got the background done in September. This looks pretty good, and the rim light is okay, thought I would include it ;"D 36. I drew some highly rendered eyes because I felt like it and wanted to join the club of making eyes look nice /j I'll probably only use this when I'm doing a close-up of eyes, like this haha. 37. A frame from my Ghost of the Mountain MAP part. I actually kinda like it lol- and this is like the first time I drew a cat with its fur puffed up X'D 38-39. Matching Halloween pfps I did with John this year; I got them done late, but they look kinda cool B) Kale is Zeus, Rolaine is Hera lol (and it's still my pfp- I should change it soon ha) 40-43. These aren't giant pieces of art, but I did a few sketches based off songs of what they would look like if they were theme songs :'DD the "theme song sketches" are Old Yeller (Childish Japes), Impossible (Nothing But Thieves), Falling Away With You (Muse), and Summerland (half•alive) :'DD 44. Cleo using BOTH of his powers >:")) eh, he's just testing things out lol- I combined both my "default" and my "cleaner/second" style of shading and got this! I think this is what I'm gonna stick with lol, more details in next art dump :') 45-47. So around this time I was like "I really should work on my character design" and my friend suggested I use moodboards, so there were about 30 designs (to be exact) based on moodboards I wanted to design characters off of :'DD well. Intended to. I only got to 4- then I got busy and lazy and gave up lol. These are the first three hehe- if I like a few of them too much, I might…keep them? ;w; 48. Look I drew a lot of Cleo this year, alright? :') You're gonna see this in another art dump, so I won't say too much lol- I based this off Lost - half•alive. 49. Really random, lazy (and lATE) thing I drew for STR's birthday, despite not working on it much lately :'D 50. The thumbnail B) I like that design lol (and now I actually know complimentary and split-complimentary colours exist-) aND I SWEAR I DO WANT TO DO THAT PALETTE CHALLENGE KIZZY HAS- man, I've got a lot to do, art and writing wise. Hopefully I can get some new stuff out next year, and resolve some character conflicts I've been having with them X'D This year has been basically a blast, though.
