Around the year 2012, an Arabic website for kids was released, going under the alias "readingcat.org". The site usually consisted of an orange cat mascot (who paid a striking resemblance to Scratch, of course) encouraging the viewer to read stories and play games. The stories in specific usually consisted of crudely rewritten takes on tales such as Hansel and Gretel, The Wizard of Oz, and even verses from the Bible. The games there usually had those same themes. The site ran strong for a good couple of months, pleasing kids and adults alike, before coming to a halt on November 18th, 2012. On that same day, a devastating death was discovered in Arizona. A young man named Aaron J. Karson was found lying on the flood in a pool of his blood, along with other bodily fluids, all in his own home. All of his teeth had been forcefully ripped out of his mouth along with his tongue, with his eyes bloodshot and rolled into the back of his head All the while his jaw was unhinged, leaving his mouth in a permanent gape. Written on the walls poorly in blood was the phrase "SING HIS PRAYER AND HE WILL SAVE YOU." Upon discovery, a journal of sorts was found on his desktop computer, containing multiple logs involving the site's contents, all in disturbing detail. According to the logs, the site contained graphic imagery such as depictions of self-harm, demons, gore images, pictures of real life people along with descriptions of murder attempts. Behind all the kid friendly stories were attempts at inserting a Satan-like figure who "ruled all life, even more than Allah." The site's visuals would flicker black randomly, revealing pictures of eyes staring in the darkness. This, along with much more content, disturbed the investigators and police. It even was so far as to say that the site was "speaking to him, all through an unknown dialect only HE could understand". Towards the end of the logs, Arabic text could be seen at the bottom of the txt. file. When properly translated to English, this was the sentence given back: "I will follow in the footsteps of the enemy I will see Satan's minions in heaven I will stare into their eyes I will hear the succubus scream And I will dance in the shadows of Satan forever" Following this, along with other similar cases, any and all evidence that the site OR the people behind it even existed was wiped for good. Some say that archives of the site are still in circulation. It's best we never find out.
