some people wanted to know how i did shading and i decided that since other art step things i do arent very complicated i'd do the whole process :p i use magma to draw because its free and i know how to use it. magma only has one kind of brush thats free to use. so i only use one brush texture. also good to note that i use a tablet to draw(the screenless kind that you plug into computer) and therefore have pen pressure, so if you dont have pen pressure some stuff might not work as well - finished drawing. for funsies - sketch 1. 20% density. just a sketch - sketch 2. 50% density. still a sketch but more clean - lineart. no extra pen stuff happening - color. still no extra pen stuff - picking colors for shading(i use multiply to judge the darkening colors and overlay to judge the lightening color). also deciding where the light comes from - lighter of the darkening colors, 0% hardness(or 100% softness, depends on the program you use) layer set to multiply - go over that with eraser, 0% hardness 21% opacity - start with the darker of the darkening colors, go over it with the lighter darkening color in places where the light would be(0% hardness 11% density) - same as above but with the layer set to normal for better visualization - erase in spots where the light hits(0% hardness) - go over whole thing with eraser(0% hardness 18% opacity) - add the little eye light thingy before lightening stuff :3 - overlay, 0% hardness - go over that with eraser, 0% hardness 25% opacity - hard light, 0% hardness - go over that with eraser, 0% hardness 25% opacity - hard light, make the darkening color darker and more saturated, make the lightening color less saturated - go over that with the new lightening color, 0% hardness 1% density - adjust big shading opacity and stuff with various different layer settings to how you like it(duplicating the whole thing with color burn on a lower opacity usually makes it look cooler) - aaand done :D
