The USS Curie (named after Marie Curie) is a self propelled floating nuclear powerplant/research vessel designed and operated by the BOB TECH Corporation that operates as the first American floating nuclear power station, and was constructed from Febuary 1998 to August 2019, and is still operating as of 2035. The ship is able to carry 320 crew members, has a top speed of 15 knots, and possesses two MRT-19N fast breeder reactors, which together produce 2,000 MW, which is transformed into ~1252 MW of electricity by two high-performance turbo-generator units. Some of this power is used to run an internal small-scale desalination plant to produce about 1200 m^3 cubic liters of drinkable water each day. The ship is docked in an Ats Corporation shipyard in New York, and is the sole nuclear power plant in the city, having had provided power alongside the defunct Indian Point Energy Center.
based off of the russian nuclear floating barge Akademik Lomonosov The Oil Industry- Factorio Space to show the original drawing due to the alternate history thing, the Indian Point Energy Center wasn't shut down in 2021 due to pressure by paranoid anti-nuclear activists and was shut down in 2029 due to concerns over the aging equipment in the nuclear power plant.
