The higher on the screen your mouse pointer is, the higher frequency. Lower on the screen shoots a lower frequency. Alien ships always have a color for the ship, and a color for the alien. If you match the color (frequency) of the ship you deal damage. If you match the color of the alien you become friendly and they give you a heart to heal your ship.
