Select initial elk, wolves, and grass. Wolves (red) eat neighboring elk (brown) & reproduce there. Elk eat grass (green) & reproduce there. Plot shows initial surge of elk followed by a surge of wolves. That repeats, as in predator-prey systems. "Show plot?" set to 0 hides plot, revealing grid of elk, wolves, and grass. 1 shows plot, mostly hides the grid.
Predator-prey ecosystem. Wolves die without elk. Elk die without grass. Oscillation results: After elk increase, wolves increase briefly, but then elk decrease, then decreased wolves.
