Description

Inferno Weed (Ignis Ferrum) is an organism that inhabits the volcanic crater sand plains of Teraminos and despite looking like plants, feed in a different way, feeding on nutrient-rich ash from volcanic explosions and thrive in warm environments and are fireproof, feeding on the nutrients on fire. They cannot burn and grow in massive colonies and their blades have serrated edges and are superheated, absorbing heat from volcanoes and use it to make their blades heated so being spiky and being 1000°C hot deters most herbivores. They have a symbiotic relationship with Night Scythes, turning dark when the predators are nearby and allow the Night Scythes to hide in them and their blades stop the Night Scythes prey from escaping and even injure their prey, helping Night Scythes on the hunt, in exchange for protection against herbivore that evolved to get past their defenses, so the Inferno weed are safe and the Scythes have a meal. They are like volcanoes in many ways, like when the colony is at the end of its lifespan (6000-40,000 years, they will all explode t once, creating a forest fire and scattering their flaming seeds all over the field creating a rare and dazzling display like fireworks called a Colonial Eruption every thousands of years. After the fire, the seeds grow up into a new colony and repeat the cycle as long as Teramino lives. Scientific Name: Ignis Ferrum Colony Width: 21.3 km wide Height: 1-12 feet tall Diet: Ash, Heat Niche: Symbiotic Plant
