⚠ WARNING: depiction of a corpse (not too graphic but it is something that if you stopped the project on you'd be like "well what is happening here") REMIX DIFFICULTY: HIGH- multiple animations, multiple still images, headbop rig weewoo an animation meme I was going to do one for pride month but this scoundrel (affectionate) came along and derailed all my plans so let's talk about lore --- Baikal was lived during a time period adjacent to the Eocene epoch on Pelagos. The thing is, throughout the millions of years of Pelagos's history, there has been a consistent worship of and cult following behind a primordial being called Luca (the tentacles). Whether Luca is a Spirit or a deity or whatever higher power is irrelevant, the cult surrounding it thinks it is all-powerful, and will dedicate their entire lives to earning its favour and being 'chosen'. Baikal was one of these individuals. They obsessed over being better than everyone else and hopefully being noticed by Luca, pushing away family and friends in the process. Eventually, their efforts paid off, and the elusive tentacles of Luca appeared to claim its most virtuous follower, or so it appeared. Amongst cheering and crowds of well-wishers, Baikal could not have felt more fulfilled as the glowing tentacles surrounded them. But then, something changed. as they were dragged down into deeper and deeper water, Baikal could feel crushing pressure unlike anything their body could withstand. Reality dawned on them that they were going to die down here in this dark, lonely abyss, and nobody would really mourn them. However, Luca had other ideas. Channelling the energy that emanated from Pelagos's core, it brought them back to life, changing their form in the process, rendering them immortal. At first, Baikal was in awe at the mercy of the object of their worship, until they realized they weren't truly alone. Thousands of lost souls were trapped here, destined never to be able to swim in sunlight again due to their ghastly appearance, from all walks of life and all ages of history; all used to be hopeful that Luca would 'choose' them. Baikal realized that Luca's decision to take them down here was simply arbitrary. The primordial being took mortals it found to be superficially fascinating down to its lair, turned them into skeletal monsters and, when it got bored of them, moved onto its next victim. Baikal was shattered by this revelation. Becoming confused and nihilistic, they took to wandering the abyssal plane in search of anything that may remind them of their warm, sunlit home. They've sometimes come across mortals on their travels, but they've always backed away, terrified. That is, until, in the present, they met Mylah, a young giant isopod who dreams of seeing the sky. His plight resonated with them, and they decided to stick around and help her out, maybe even get up to the surface themself, their appearance be damned? well, good luck out there, Baikal, let's hope Luca doesn't remember its attachment to you again :/ --- well that happened I mucked up part of the animation and didn't do all of the frames I needed so that's why the 'bopping' animation looks a bit weird also shoutout to the sine function, I actually used it in the meme didn't do GCSE further maths for nothing guys :') Project Type: Draw To Adopt Entry Animation MEME DTA Host: @CapitanFluffy Original: Winter Wing (there are little dots before and after the name but they aren't on the keyboard) Inspiration: Asha Phaedra, Opaline, LampP0st Coding: Me Art: Me Art program used: FireAlpaca Pending Character: Baikal OCs: Luca, designed and owned by me (I promise it isn't just tentacles lol) Song: Jaws Theme~JAUZ (reduced pitch though)
