several research projects have been started by the science divisions like experimental warp torpedos, advanced armor on ships, medications, and most importantly even more powerful weaponry. One thing that has come out of the SCD was the ion disrupter torpedo which I sold but was upgraded to take out the power, weapons, and engines. these torpedos are made like other torpedos in my empire. a solid hard very hard metal surrounded by superheated plasma. but they use an ion warhead to emp the shield and stuff of a ship. they also turn off life support so you are dead and suffocating. finally, the science divisions every day are making strides to improve life technologically for our people medication and technologically wise.
