Log 07/06/2023 Another Megalania was shipped from P.A.C.K. to Dinotera Park. It was another Megalania, named Megan by her handlers. Reptiles are generally not social but some living relatives of Megalania (Water Monitors) are intelligent (for reptiles) and sometimes found in groups. We are hoping that our Megalanias will breed but it's tricky as we have to introduce them to each other and they might fight. Megan has been at the park for two weeks now and now San's (The other Megalania) enclosure has a metal divider and we will monitor their interaction while both are separated. They ignored each other for the first day but then have been hissing and making guttural noises at each other lately. Megan is slightly larger than Sans but there is still a chance of them fighting. After a week they have been vocal and making soft hissing noises at each other. They are now visiting the border more often to interact with each other. We will have a test run in a few days by removing the divider but we will have a team of guards and keepers with net guns, cattle prods, tranquilizer guns, tranquilizer gas, and a high-pressure water cannon. Megan is 23.4 feet long and Sans is 22.7 feet. The test run is scheduled in just a few days so don't forget to grab binoculars and popcorn and maybe a tranquilizer gun and I'll see you there.
