Zebra was taking her walk with her family when she froze in mid step the sound like a lion's roar THEY were back. She froze in mid step The sound the dog’s was bark followed by a growl the two sounds rang in her ears she looked around she noticed her family was gone. She called out which attracted the dogs she ran into a small bush she saw the dogs paws from the bush the dog was coming…she felt the dog’s WET…COLD SLIMY nose touch her and felt the dogs warm but cold at the same time strangely, but no time to think about that!, the dog was about to eat her! the dog opened its big wet slobbery mouth with the biggest fangs she had ever seen for a second she couldn't breathe then she felt mad, those dogs had made her family run away! She scratched the dogs nose the dog howled and ran away with its friends she came out and went to her old den and cried herself to sleep when she awoke it was the middle of the night she went outside and looked at the full moon tears ran down her face suddenly she felt anger. “WHY DID THEY LEAVE ME BEHIND?!?” she thought as she ran to the spot where she had lost her family then she heard something a dog? No she thought and slowed down. A MOUSE! It had been in a bush she tiptoed up to the mouse and pounded and caught it she had not eaten for what seemed like many months but was only A day she gulped down the mouse in one gulp and she needed to keep looking for her family but instead she saw a mother cat with two small kittens one white with a black mark that looked like a heart with blue eyes and the other orange with a black big spot on her back but when she approached the cat took one look at her and backed away slowly every hair raised high “who are you?!?” the cat hissed “why are YOU here” “this is MY territory you know” “oh sorry” zebra mewed faintly the cat’s hairs slowly became flat as if the cat now trusted her. “Where are your parents little one?” asked the cat suddenly the memory of losing her family flashed in her mind.”I-F I lost them..”she cried “oh no! How?” said the cat “the dogs she answered and felt a tear run down her cheek “MAMAA!” creid the kitten with a black spot “heart got stung by a bee” the small kitten pointed at a even smaller crying kitten. “Oh dear” said the cat as she picked up the crying kitten “follow me!” the cat said said “umm ok..” zebra said “im sandy by the way” said the cat “im zebra” said zebra sandy leaped down into a hole which appeared to be tier home zebra waited while sandy placed the still crying kitten onto the mossy bed and tried to comfort her zebra looked around the small den then she felt sandy grab her by the scruff and place her down by the otter kittens sandy went out side of the den and while she was gone zebra driffeted of to sleep “zebra?” said a voice “mama?’ Said zebra “MAMA!” then she heard sandy’s calm and soothing voice “zebra?” zebra opened her eyes her mom wasn't there. “Good morning sleepy head!” said sandy zebra started to cry “aww it’s ok” said sandy “what happened” sandy asked “ i saw my mom…” sniffed zebra“im sorry but do you want a mouse a rabbit or a fish for breakfast?” “umm she remembered her family always ate mice “but remembering anything her family did was to painful “fish” said zebra her family hated fish she closed her eyes and took the smallest bite you might even call it a nibble she swallowed “yummy!” she said the otter kittens looked at her in disgust “eww” they said in unison “have you two ever tried fish sandy” asked sandy “no..” the kittens both said zebra was thinking about her family why they left her and how they were doing. “HEY ZEBRA WANNA PLAY!” heart screamed in her ear zebra jumped up in surprise “AHHH!” she screamed "DONT DO THAT!!" she scowled, fur up in the air “so-sorry “ stuttered the small but loud kitten “fine… i'll play” She said a she rolled her eyes “what are you playing” the kitten blinked blankly “ummm know any games?” “NO!” but she knew she did. When she was really little she played a game where you have to not let the leaf touch the ground she didn't want to do or think anything that her family just then the small kitten came up to her again “i made up a game don't let the leaf touch the ground.” she stared blankly at the kitten “well?” the kitten asked “NO! WHY WOULD YOU SAY THAT THAT'S THE WORST IDEA EVER GO AWAY!” the kitten started to cry and ran away zebra felt really bad she felt something stab her paw “ow!” she screamed as she looked down the same kitten she yelled at was biting down on her paw “OW STOP STOP!” “SORRY SORRY I DIDN'T MEAN IT IM JUST SAD MY FAMILY LEFT IT WAS A GAME WE USED TO PLAY I DON'T WANT TO THINK ABOUT MY FAMILY! OK?” “ok..” said the kitten and let go of her paw zebra licked her paw she studied it “you should show mama” said the kitten “ok” she (continued in notes and credits)
said staring to get up and limped up to sandy and told her what happened “hmmm we might need a black to look at this” “back?” “follow me” “KITTENS WERE GOING TO SEE DADDY!!” “yay!” said heart “aw man” said the kitten who bit her she went to a bush and said “black!” “who is this?” said a cat who must be black a black cat with yellow eyes “let me look at your paw” “STOP BITING CATS!” he yelled at the kitten she blushed black said “your paw is fine just rest your paw for a few days" black said as he wrapped Zebra's paw in a bandage “ok” replied zebra as they were going home she saw black giveing the kitten who bit her give a cold hard stare she felt bad for her. The kitten said “im so sorry” “it’s fine i never asked your name by the way” “my dad named me trouble can you call me little T everyone does” “ok little t” said zebra “race ya!” said little t “hey no fair!” zebra scowled playfully as she limped to the den when they got to the den sandy was alone “WHERE'S HEART!” all of them said in unison “oh” said sandy “i thought she was with you guys” “let's check blacks?” zebra said hopefully they headed to blacks “oh great now i'm stuck with this one” he scowled “can you watch her while we find them?” “fine…” he scowled once again “come on zebra” said sandy let's look for her “help!...” “i hear her!” sandy screamed they found her stuck in a fox den “shhh” said heart “the fox is in here” she whispered sandy leaped into the den and landed quiet as a mouse the fox came out of the shadows… sandy grabbed heart and tossed her up and out of the tree root den… “RUN!” she screamed zebra picked up heart and ran to black’s little T and black were asleep black lifted his head “sandy..?” zebra lowered her head “she-she is in the fox den.” “fighting the fox” black’s face went from puzzled to feurus “NO!” “you this is your fault heart! trouble may be trouble but at least she's smart!” he said as he swiped heart out of the air “oof” heart said as she hit the cold hard floor “oh good your tough so you won't feel this!” he hit her with his bear paw luckily no claws. “Hey! Stop that” some-cat a cat came into the den it was sandy. She was a little hurt but she was fine“I KNOW YOU WERE ANGRY AND SAD BUT DON'T TAKE IT OUT ON THE KITTENS!” sandy hissed “im sorry” said black “sorry is not good enough” “come on kittens” “were leaving” “and were not coming back” black sat there wide eyed and surprised and he started to cry he went into a bush and was as much as a shadow. Where did he go?!? Then a black blur grabbed heart “NO” screamed zebra and rushed to grab her but her paw slowed her down the sadowy cat hit her she scratched him and hissed until the cat fell to the ground “sandy! Sandy! “ zebra yelled sandy and little t rushed over sandy dragged the black shadow into the sunlight “black!?!” sandy gasped black opened his eyes “ow.” he groaned “your always saying that you are the best healer in the world then you probably can treat this” she growled “goodbye forever” she said calmly but angrily at the same time “i'm so sorry he named you trouble” shighed sandy as they walked home “you can be..” “spot!!!” said little t “ok” sandy said “nice name spot” said zebra “spot” said spot “i like it.” she sighed happily Zebra was now very tired she lay on the warm bed made out of feathers and cotton the stuff that was left in her old cave as she drifted of to sleep she smelled something something, bad when she opened her eyes she had wings and was flying with… HER PARENTS?!?! “Mom?” “dad” her parents nodded she felt tears in her eyes but before she could hug her mom and dad the wind picked up and dark clouds wirled in the air angry storm clouds whirled around her parents her parents struggled to get out she looked at them wide eyed and the dark clouds surrounded her she called out, no sound came out. She was alone again she tried to fly but when she looked and her wings they were gone she started to fall she saw her parents flying above her their eyes glowing red. She fell to the ground hard. “AHHH!” she thought she had felt pain but no, she couldn't she closed her eyes and when she opened them she was in Sandy’s home “are you ok?” sandy asked “Y-yeah” “just a nightmare” Zebra replied “so want to hunt with me,spot and heart?” sandy asked “ok..” Zebra replied sadly “Come’on” sandy said “we’ll be hunting fish” “ok!” said Zebra end of chapters 1-3
