Arc 1, The War: Orchid/Yin/Yang. It starts all the way back when Passion became friends with Orchid, showing her the war between Rose and Black, which after a little while Orchid became very involved in. However, Orchid was glitching badly, up until the point in which she split in two separate bodies, Yin and Yang. Yang joined Rose's side and Yin joined Black's. During the war, Yin trapped Yang, but with the help of Rose and her friends, Yan escaped and helped win the war. Arc 2, The Greyer Place: Orchid needs to control these glitches, so she assembles a team of friends to go to the Greyer Place w/ her to steal THE SENSOR, an item that can tell how much Yang/Yin a Greyling has in their soul. While they're there, Orchid blows up the Greyer Place. Orchid gets glitched by THE SENSOR and Yang becomes defective, so now there's just Yin. Yin tries to reform, making a few close friends such as Rose. This arc ends with Rose getting corrupted and killing Yin, and with Yin gone, Yang fades. Arc 3, Mercy: Introducing Leo and Morgan! Leo becomes very close friends with Wither. Morgan finds out that Orchid is dead, and she leaves to grieve. She makes a deal w/ Mercy so that in exchange for legal possession a lighter than Yin once had, Mercy will spare Leo. This doesn’t stop Mercy from kidnapping and torturing Leo to learn the lighter’s whereabouts. Wither saves him, but after Mercy confronts the pair, their alliance is thin. To attempt to fix things, Leo gives Rose the lighter for safekeeping and makes a deal w/ Mercy to protect Wither. The two go and confront Mercy one last time, this time they defeat him. The arc ends with Leo admitting to Wither that he likes him, before Pen wipes both Leo and Morgan from existence. Arc 4, The Lighter: After Mercy tried (and failed) to blackmail the Fire Kingdom, the Fire Kingdom waged war on him. He tried to hide out at Shadow's ship, but ended up getting captured by Michael. Mercy got teleported away to the Council, and a little while later he returns to Michael, claiming that the Council kicked him out and he needs Michael's help to overthrow them. They make a plan to invade the Chaos Realm and kill the Council members. Meanwhile Wither learns from Pen that he needs a blue life crystal to revive Leo, which only grow in the Chaos Realm. Mercy agrees to get Wither the crystal, but only if Wither will kill someone for Mercy. Wither agrees. Mercy and Michael break into the Chaos Realm. Michael learns, too late, that Mercy had been lying to him, and that Mercy is planning to kill Pen. Mercy traps Michael in the Chaos Realm, and then goes and gives Wither the crystal, telling him he has to kill Pen. Wither reluctantly goes to kill Pen, but with the help of Chaos Council member Syren, Michael manages to escape the Chaos Realm, giving Pen the lighter, hoping she will destroy it before she dies. But then Mercy shows up. He makes a deal with Pen so Wither doesn't have to kill her, and in return she is to give him the lighter. Despite Michael's warnings, Pen accepts, and Mercy gets the lighter. Arc 5, The Creator: Wither finally gets Pen’s help to revive Leo, but Leo doesn’t remember him (knife twist). Mercy is hiding out in the Chaos Realm, though the Council isn’t too happy with him. He hasn’t used the lighter yet and is starting to feel really bad about manipulating Wither. To make it up to him, Mercy sacrifices his powers to bring Leo’s memories back. Before Mercy can make too much headway becoming a better person, Pen wipes his brain and gives him false memories, turning him into the villain Pity. This works for a little while, with Pity attacking the Fire Kingdom a bit, but he soon begins to suspect his mind has been messed with, and so he breaks into the restricted section of Pen’s Library of Infinite Knowledge for answers. There, he realizes Pen used to be one of many Creators before she killed all but one and trapped the last Creator’s power in an artifact she uses to fuel her own power. Now she abuses her power, manipulating people, erasing memories and people at a whim, basically doing whatever she thinks will make the story “better” without letting her OCs be their own people. Pity gets in contact with Shadow, and while Michael and Ember distract Pen, Pity and Shadow sneak into Pen’s room. There, they learn that the artifact is the lighter (which Pity has), and the only way to break it and release the old Creator is with Leo’s silver dagger. Pen realizes the trick, but Shadow and Pity use the lighter to stall her and escape. They meet up with Leo, and despite Pen’s attempt to stop them, they destroy the lighter and release Bloodrose. Blood revokes Pen’s creator-status.
Arc 5.5, just a bit of in-between stuff that didn’t quite fit into arc 5 or 6: Pity (along with Leo and Wither) get Blood to restore him back to Mercy, in the process convincing her not to be as hung up over the story “needing a villain” as Pen was. Mercy, now finally fully themself again, wants to make amends with the people they’ve hurt. Meanwhile Michael learns Pen anticipated losing her powers (she invented the dagger as a failsafe to her rein because it made the story more interesting) but she didn’t expect it to happen so soon, and so there is no failsafe to stop Blood if she turns evil. Feeling like she’s failed her story, Pen erases her own memories for good. Arc 6, The Council: The Chaos Council discusses whether Mercy should be allowed back into the Chaos Realm, considering he gave up his powers and is no longer a Chaotic Spirit. In the end they agree he should be, with the Outsider Acceptance Act being passed. Among the Council Members not happy about this decision are Reel (head of military) and Brai (head of code). Mercy goes missing. Shadow eventually finds him in his old cabin, being tortured by an evil Leo. Leo has lost so much—his aunt Orchid, his sister Morgan, and recently he learned Wither’s been killed too—so he’s taking his anger out on the one person he can mentally justify. Shadow fights to project Mercy. Shadow gets stabbed with the silver dagger, shocking Leo back to normal. He severs his own arm to prevent the dagger from sapping away his lifeforce. Mercy manages to control Shadow’s Nixen, stabilizing him while accidentally absorbing some of the Nixen into his body. Leo, feeling terrible, decides to go off on his own. Shadow and Michael return Mercy to the Chaos Realm, but during the exchange Dare shows up and attacks Shadow. Siren is impaled by spikes. In the aftermath, Siren is sent into a coma and Reel takes over the Council, kicking out Mercy and revoking the OAA. Mercy and Shadow suspect Reel is behind all of this, but they don’t have any way to get into the Chaos Realm and expose him. They find Pen, who does not remember them, but does remember helping build the Chaos Realm. Shadow and Mercy convince her to make them a blueprint with all entry/exit points for the realm. And there's another problem. Normal weapons won’t hurt Councilmembers while they’re in the Chaos Realm. The lighter and the silver dagger come close to being strong enough, but the lighter was destroyed and the dagger is with Leo, who doesn’t want to be found. However, both those weapons were made by the Greylings. Even though the Greyer Place was destroyed, some of their vaults might’ve survived. Shadow lets Mercy look through his memories to figure out how Shadow and Orchid originally got into the Greyer Place, way back in arc 2. They find the portal room, though the pillars powering it are broken, and it’s being guarded by a nest of magic-consuming, very lethal snakes. Shadow distracts them while Mercy fixes the portal, and they travel though. In the Greyer Place, the ground is completely leveled except for a bit of rubble where a grand city used to stand. Last we left off, Shadow suggested they set up camp and rest before heading to the city...
