Quick art process of a banner I drew for my new closed species lumendras, launching 6/1/23! Similar to candle noodles (another closed species I own), lumendras will mainly be based on TH - - - 1. Just a sketch. Basic concepting for the positioning and composition of everything. 2. Cleaned up the sketch lines so that I could just use them for the final lines! I personally find redrawing the lineart to be a huge waste of time lol 3. I quickly did some color blocking to see what would look good together. I ended up going with this very basic daytime color palette but you know what. It's fine 4. Drew the lineart for the characters - I originally wanted to just reuse the sketch lines but they were way too messy and beyond fixing lmao 5. Colored in the lumendras and threw in some quick shading / lighting. I'm happy with the shading on the cliff, even though it doesn't make... sense...? 6. Fixed up the lighting to make it less intense and drew some leaves / flowers on the cliff. There's also moss on the rock but you can't really tell oml 7. So I ended up going with the intense lighting after all?? I added in the little campfire (I have no clue why they would have a campfire in broad daylight but ok) and did some final lineart coloring 8. In the end I decided to get rid of the cliffs in the foreground - the contrast was just a bit too much for this drawing's vibe. I also blurred the clouds a bit, and if you're in the candle noodle community you'll recognize something in the background wow 9. I added the text for the banner and finished!
