He specifically is half Saiyan-half thalonian. This allows him to be able to copy the forms of others and use them for a short time. Since he is half thalonian though, his abilities come at a cost. The longer he uses his ability the more ki it drains. Once all his ki is used, he dies. Once he dies from ki drainage he cannot be revived. He can however be reincarnated into a body similar to his.
