Click here for the remix tree: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/853435140/remixtree After almost 3 years since it first released, Boulder Attack is BACK as a new REDUX version! Like before, the players must try to reach the finish and avoid all sorts of boulders! This time though, there are even more boulders than before, and boulders could spawn more in later rounds! And that's not all, any players that don't make it to the finish will be eliminated, but not only one player. Several players could be eliminated each round if there's enough players now! The last player standing wins. Also, if a round takes too long without anyone making it to the finish, the boulders may loosen up a bit until a player reaches the finish. ===== HOW TO REMIX ===== Want to add a character to this project? Follow these instructions carefully to get them in: 1. Scroll down below these instructions & read the rules! DON'T proceed until you've done this! 2. Click the green "Remix" button at the top-right corner. 3. Create a duplicate of the "Player0" sprite. (right-click the sprite on the sprite list, then click "duplicate") 4. Create your character! Replace every costume in the duplicated sprite with your character, replace all "Voice" sound clips (at the bottom of the sound list) with your character's voice & set their name, walk animation speed, and number of "ouch" voices. 5. Test your project &, if you like the result, either continue to add more characters or share it! BONUS: You're also allowed to add characters to the thumbnail & add more music tracks. The rules can be found inside of the thumbnail sprite in this project (read these before remixing). A list of boulder types is also located in the thumbnail sprite.
After almost 3 years since the release of my 1st AY-minigame, the original Boulder Attack ( https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/419323475/ ), its official REDUX version has been finally released! It is my 6th original AY-minigame and 11th original AY overall. This is also my first AY-minigame to have players automatically aligned to their feet regardless of their alignment in the costume editor (which addresses the problem Barrel Castle once had). I don't exactly remember when the idea for Boulder Attack REDUX was first brought up, but I think it was in 2021 (still very long ago). It was in development as early as March 9th 2023. Regardless, this AY-minigame takes inspiration from @Burgnew_On_A_Laptop's Marble Hill just like the original. It also takes a few tidbits of inspiration from the two later versions of Marble Hill as well which will be noted in the credits below. ===== CREDITS ===== Credit to all, including: - @-Rex- for PTE++ (also credited in the instructions to pass it on to other remixes). - @YarikMyProject and @griffpatch for the sprite layering system. - @Twin138956Scratch for the confetti poppers and the "Start!" & "Winner!" game text graphics. The other game text (round counter and "Finish!") I made myself. - @Diepic for my OC base, and @griffpatch (again) for Scratch Cat's run cycle. - @Aydenfox8 for one of the "Splat!" noises that are made when a player is run over by a mega or fast boulder (depending on whether they are tiny or not). - jacknjellify for the "Lased" sound effect made when a player is eliminated (taken from BFB 5). - ALL music/jingle/SFX owners/composers including but not limited to: Nintendo, SEGA, @Burgnew_On_A_Laptop, Toby Fox, Klei Entertainment, Grand Lord, and Konami. - Also credit to @Burgnew_On_A_Laptop for making Marble Hill ( https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/417820218 ) which originally inspired the original Boulder Attack, as well as inspiration from its REDUX ( https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/441044074 ), the Cash Flow Waterfall scene from the SURR ( https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/590412547 ) that helped me make boulder collisions where all boulder types are as one sprite, and the effects for the invincibility sparkle and boulder bomb explosions. Additional credit to @XStables for making Marble Hill Climbers ( https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/418360037/ ) which also sparked some inspiration for some things in this AY-minigame (most notably the zapper boulder's zap effect). Also, here's a fun fact! The feature of the invincibility effect darkening the background stems from a bug I once encountered in Marble Hill Climbers, where when a player touches a star marble while another is being zapped at the same time, the background doesn't go back to normal brightness. I personally thought it made the invincibility look more epic, so I turned it into a feature for this AY-minigame (though not as dark as the zap effect's darkness)! One last thing, I decided to label the "Slow and Steady" soundtracks with a number at the end of their names correlating to the Mario Party game they come from. I did this since they both have variations from Mario Party: The Top 100 that I want to include in a later remix (these would have the additional (Top 100) label alongside the number).
