IN Three Attacks Ranging from 1258 to 1288 The Mongolian Empire Attacked Dai Viet, also known as Vietnam today, the Vietnamese pushed them off towards the west before completely destroying them, the mongols attacked again this time gaining more land and pushing the Vietnamese south as the Leaders went to a coastal island in the east, in the south the Vietnamese soon gained back their land pushing them up and west, in Hanoi which was their capital passed the Scorched Earth law , they burnt all their crops and ground, covering it with thick ash, when the mongols invaded a third time they would be dropped of by a few boats during the time they did win for some time gaining some north of Vietnam. When they reached the capital the soldiers would be shocked that there was nothing, and so they starved and were hungry and thirsty. A few days later multiple counter attacks killed a few divisions. On the day they retreated by a boat by the red river the Vietnamese but Stakes at the mouth of it, so when the ships tried to get out they couldn't and would be stuck. After high tide the ships were almost at low tide, just then tons of Vietnamese ships with Flaming arrows attacked the ships burning them. Mongolian troops and sailors jumped and most drowned.
