It had a happy life living under the leaf that its parent laid the clutch under, but soon came adulthood. One by one every little snail grew up and left to go out on their own life adventure, leaving Ellington and a handful of xer other clutch mates alone under the leaf. Eventually though, every good thing ends, and a new begins. Ellington was sad to leave the tiny little leaf it had grown up in, but the leaf had been eaten away by all the tiny snails, and it was time to leave. Xe started of not knowing where to go, but eventually every step came to xem and xe trudged forward. After a few hours of walking it stopped, it didn't need to go farther. The sun was shining down and reflecting off of a water droplet covered city. The city was beautiful, the most beautiful thing Ellington had ever seen. It recognized some of its siblings walking around the bustling city with snail-like creatures just like it. Xe stared in awe at the snail sized city, all the colors were extra bright, and sun was shining off of the water droplets and puddles, it was only dawn. And the morning fog hadn't quite cleared the forest. All the houses were made of leaves, sticks, empty ramen cups, and whatever else the tiny creatures could find. But to Ellington this tiny city was the start of a huge adventure. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Snailites: Snailites are tiny creatures bearing resemlance to cats, corgis, and snails***. They start out their lives out in the forest, put there by their parent(s). Due to some magical honing ability snailites always find their way back to the cities. Some think this is due to the crystal caves that lay under the snailite city, but the source of their magic is still debated. Snailites communicate with tiny chattering and squeaking noises. Their shell colors also slightly change depending on their emotions and environment. Some scientists say that because of this snailites might be distantly related to catmeleons, but since snailites are a protected species no studies have been done. All snailites are born with their own unique color combination. Their colors are slightly influenced by their parent(s) colors, but mostly it's random chance. Most snailites are fairly social, but a few choose to live as hermits out in the forest or in actual human sized cities. (There's a chance there's one near you, so look out!) Snailites are a protected species that live in the small forest of the interdimensional cafe, where most rare magical species live. Snailites used to be everywhere, but the draining of magical resources over time caused them to almost die out, and scientists moved most of their population to the cafe. (the inside of the cafe is huge, it has a forest in it. don't ask, it's magic) Snailite's main predators are birds and larger insects. They're well protected if they stay in the city, but many baby snailites get picked off out in the forest. (Btw this desc is my effort to fit Ellington into my already created universe inside my head. I have been working on it for years and years now, since I was about eight, so every character I get it add to it. The cafe has a cafe in each of the five dimensions, and people often go through the cafe to get places. The center of the cafe is a huge forest that contains most of the extinct or almost extinct magical animals. The forest is magically frozen in time. Hope this helps ig.) The snailite city is only about ten square feet, but it goes down into the caves to accommodate more snailites. Most younger snailites live near the top, that's why Ellington saw xer clutch mates there, and as you go down the older the snailites usually are. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *not **if you know you know *** especially

Description

Part one of entry: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/846690257/ i might add more doodles of xem later (more desc on snailites down here) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Snailites usually lay eggs at six to twelve months of age. A snailite has the choice to reproduce asexually, sexually, or not at all. Baby snailites usually have traits of their parent(s) including, shorter antenna, brighter colors, height, amount of fluff, etc etc. You can't really predict how alike a baby snailite will be with its parent(s). Sometimes they can be exact replicas, or sometimes they look nothing alike. It isn't really clear why snailites go clear into the forest to lay their clutches, maybe natural selection, or not wanting to raise eggs, or if its instinct. No one really knows. Some snailites do keep their eggs, usually ones with at least one partner. Because of this nurseries and daycares do exist, but are uncommon. Snailites do have jobs, but they receive no reward. Their jobs are ones they want to do, and they choose to do it for the good of the city. Some choose to scavenge for resources, some farm, some decorate buildings, some give out resources, etc etc. Snailites don't have a leader, so they usually make decisions as one. They have a kind of hive mind (?) where the pheromones one snailite puts out tells other snailites what is going on. Despite this, most communication is done through their language, because pheromones only give off vague feelings and general messages. I feel like I've written too much so I'm going to stop. (can you tell I'm hyperfixated on these things and have nothing to do?) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
