hey y'all! so i've begun writing a story-- it's been going since freaking s e p t e m b e r (yes i've been writing for that long) it started with a prompt in creative writing class, then spiraled from there. i have plenty more like this if you wanna read more! or if you want to read more of this story! just let me know :) here we go! hope you enjoy! ------- Success. The only true goal in this world is success. “And today, finally, finally we may have reached it.” Sam’s clear voice echoes throughout the small, yet clean, room, full of hope and leadership. She had been working towards this her whole life, from what she’s told me. It’s impressive, really. One woman devoted to saving the world. It's no wonder she immediately scored the Lead Researcher position after she made a legendary breakthrough in distance-bending technology. And, not only that, but I trust her with my life. Everyone claims she’s not quite right in the head, but I can’t help but disagree. She’s worked so hard for years towards the goal that could be achieved today, only a few weeks after I joined this elite group. You may be confused. What group? What’s your goal? Who are these people? Who are you?? All valid questions. Well, allow me to give you a tour of the group. You’ve already met Sam. She directs this group, giving us a sense of what we’re supposed to be doing and when. None of this would be happening without her. She doesn’t quite look like a leader- more like an awkward intern with her tall and lanky build- but there is not an ounce of awkwardness in her. Her skin tone and hair color match her reason for living: black coffee. She always tidies her hair in a tight bun, and you rarely see her without her lab coat paired with a stained black shirt and pants. Of course, there’s our second-in-command, Carl. Carl is the most eccentric of this group; a short middle-aged man with possibly the shiniest bald head I’ve ever seen. I wish I was lying when I say this, but he pours entire bottles of olive oil onto his head in the morning in an effort to really shine it up. It’s disturbing sometimes, especially combined with his strange college professor-esque clothing style. Erin is next. She’s the most normal person in the group. Even though she claims she’s strange because she’s genderfluid, nobody believes it. She may be completely and totally Irish (seriously–short red hair, freckles, green eyes, and everything), but she also favors tacos over Irish soda bread. She actually offers options to the group and does her job without asking questions. She wears her lab outfit when necessary, but jogging pants and a t-shirt whenever she isn’t in the lab. The only reason we all don’t fight each other daily is because of Erin’s calm demeanor. We also have a resident business manager, Chris. He’s the reason we even have funding for this project. When he first introduced himself, I asked him if he was a Beach Boy, or at least from the coast, because he’s tall enough, tan enough, slim enough, and blonde enough to fit in with any surfer dude clique. However, his personality is the opposite of a dude-bro. He’s nervous all the time, definitely has no chill, and drinks way too much caffeinated tea. Kind of scary, actually. He’s fantastic at convincing people to do things. And then there’s me. Short, chaotic, exhausted, easily distracted me. My name’s Mia, pronounced M-eye-a. I get my hair dyed a new color every few years, and this year it’s teal. However, five years ago when we started this project, it was yellow. That was an interesting phase. Anyway, my hair is probably too long to be let down all the time, but nobody stops me from letting it fall over my shoulders in wavy curves, so I usually wear it like that. I always wear a striped shirt under my lab coat, along with jeans, checkered Vans, and a silver nose piercing. It upsets a few other people in the building that I don’t follow the dress code to a T, but I don’t have to work with them. Therefore, I couldn’t care less about what they think. Together, the four of us have been working for five years to create teleportation in a society where everything could fall apart at any minute, but you can access food with the press of a button. How comforting, knowing that you could easily be losing everyone important to you the next day, but hey, you’ll still have a warm sandwich! …I’ll admit, it’s not horrible. We really do have solid access to necessities, and it’s nearly impossible to go without food or shelter. However, our building’s purpose isn’t to solve problems. We simply advance technology, providing a better future for the world.

Description

That’s code for “we mess around with random crap and ‘try’ to not blow stuff up.” Now that our introduction is complete, let’s get back to the story. Erin tilts her head, her perfect posture refusing to waver. “The Goose was completed? We still had six different diagnostics to run, three different parts to apply-” “And twenty-three different programs to check!” Chris finishes, his voice nervous as always. He frantically flips through our to-do clipboard (which he always kept near), presenting a list, long and menacing, on the twenty-third page. ---- this is all i could fit-- i have twelve more pages bahaha-- let me know if you're interested in more :DD (brainy and all of the antagonist fans-- he has not yet joined the party, but he will soon dw >:D )
