Clay scrambled out from beneath his guardian just in time for only his tail to be scorched by Kestrel’s flames. “Come on, Clay! Where’s that monster I saw when you hatched?” Kestrel snarled. Clay didn’t answer. Kestrel leapt at him and scratched his cheek with her scorched talons. So basically when Clay hatched he “attacked” the eggs of the other DoD, and because of this Kestrel, one of the guardians of the DoD, thought that Clay had an “inner monster”. Later he finds out that he was just helping the other DoD get out of their eggs.
