Today is no ordinary day... IT’S EARTH DAY! The first Earth Day was celebrated in 1970, when a United States senator from Wisconsin organized a national demonstration to raise awareness about environmental issues. Rallies took place across the country and, by the end of the year, the U.S. government had created the Environmental Protection Agency. Every year, April 22 is celebrated as Earth Day, an annual event where people take time out to demonstrate their support for protecting the planet and its environment. Celebrating and conserving our planet doesn't have to just be an annual event. Join larger community efforts and Earth Day events that include cleaning up trash from neighborhood streets and common areas, planting trees, and recycling. Use recycled materials to help spread the word — nature will thank you!
