Wow, okay, looking back at this. Right now, I have a couple photos of London (current and very alive hamster) in the front of this slideshow, he’s the white blob. —- Old note (2023): I think I’ll take a break from scratch- You may have heard me talk about my beloved pet hamsters. (That’s right, plural) I found Hershey passed away in his sleep this morning. I have compiled some of the best photos of his personality, (one of him how I found him this morning) I have also included photos of him with his brother, Tulip. (I have 900 more photos) Click the stage. He was very much so a (fat) happy hamster whose two favorite things were eating and sleep, and perhaps his brother. I separated the two last year because they had grown quite old and Hershey was becoming more grumpy. He used to be as heavy as a paperweight, but he lost weight and became (slightly over) the weight of a healthy hamster. We did not transition him to a new food like we did with his brother (we started a new food for Tulip a couple days ago) so that couldn’t have been a cause. He was a very old hamster and made it past my birthday, as well as his own birthday, but unfortunately his anniversary (when we got the hammies) is next month. Hershey lived with multiple hideouts a wheel, water, multiple food bowls, and a potty in a twenty gallon terrarium. and He loved being picked up and cuddling. He would often hop up and down for me to pick him up, and when I lowered my hand, he would scramble right on it. Most people would think that hamsters don’t really matter that much- but they do, and he really meant a lot to me. He was kind of like an emotional support hamster for me, and helped me find a purpose each day to wake up and take care of him and pick him up when he asked me to. He had his own very specific personality that I just don’t think I can express because he wasn’t just a “pet” to me, and I don’t think others would understand unless they’ve experienced loss. This is my second hamster to have passed away. He was very old and had just turned two a month ago, which is very old for a hamster. He is a winter white dwarf hamster with chocolate brown fur and the most adorable cream colored belly. He used to bite, but then he started getting more cuddly. His theme color is going to be purple and I’m going to get him a nice box and paint it, adding his name, soon. He was just the pudgiest lil hamster, with so much spunk. For now I’ve laid him down in his habitat in his hideout. I’ll go to michaels to pick up supplies tomorrow. For me, work helps take my my mind off of things, so maybe give me some art requests or fanfic requests in the comments. You are thanked for reading this- it means a lot to me, and if you’ve experienced loss and feel like sharing, do so.
