Hi everyone! Lol this isn’t the April fools one this time don’t worry As some of you may know, I put up a project for ppl to send their characters me to make fan art of! I’m finally finished! (..after 2 weeks, but we don’t talk about that) All of your characters are super cute and I found it hard to choose which ones to do. I would’ve drawn all of them, but I just don’t have the time to :( The folllowing characters belong to : -@forestii- (top left) -@skechindeed (top left, next to @forestii-‘s) -@derp-tato-corn (top right) -off-site person (middle right) -@ottur (bottom right) -@skyeii (bottom left-ish) 0. Put my references (They can be pretty distracting tho) As u can see, I had a lot of characters I wanted to draw, but I sadly didn’t have to time to do them all :’) 1.1 Sketch Start drawing a rough sketch of the characters for a main idea 1.2 finished sketch Finished and organized the sketch 2. Starting the lineart! Before that though, I lowered the opacity of my sketch 3. Finished the lineart Did a few changes during this process 4. Put the square separators 5. Started colouring Filled in the characters with colour, set that layer to alpha lock, and started colouring! 6. Finished colouring Pretty self-explanatory. I had to put the refs for the colour picking so I finished @forestii-‘s first 7. Coloured lineart Set alpha lock the the lineart, and coloured it! It’s supposed to give a more soft look to your art 8. Shading Added a layer above the colours, set it to “clipping mask” then multiply. I lowered the opacity to smth like 40%, set my colour to a more saturated purple and started doing the shading! 9. Lighting (+ shading) Added an orange conjure to some of the edges of the shading. I then added yet another layer, set it to “add”, set the opacity to 75% and my colour to light blue for the lighting. 10. Lighting part 2 Duplicated the lighting layer and blurred it a bit. I set the original lighting layer to a different filter and lowered the opacity by… a lot 11. Coloured the backgrounds! Filled in the squares, and coloured them in with a gradient. I tried to fit the colours so it complemented the character! I also set my background colour back to white lol (I usually use grays) 12. Background + contours Set the background colour to beige, and added a new layer for the colour of the characters. I used white for the contours, but lowered the opacity quite a bit 13. Background + touch-ups Airbrushed some colours on the bg and put… a lot… of filters. (Maybe too much this time-) This includes saturation changes, brightness changes and the obvious texture (the texture appear so much clearer in scratch than it actually is tho-) I also added the scratch users of the ppl who own the characters :] 14. Done! I hope u guys like it! And I hope this process helps somehow too lol

I also love kinda grumpy characters so that fits well lol Last but not least, @forestii-!! - ur oc is ADORABLE! I can’t say I didn’t run into problems with the design’s complexity (…heh..hehe..) but it was totally worth it! I love the sprout and the cross eye :DD #art #process #gift # birthday #special #:D
