The great bang as some would call it. No, not the great big bang theory. No. The great bang. It all started in a small town that went by the name of Volcania. Volcania was a small town that rested by the Obsidian sea. Not many knew about the once serene and quaint town. It was 169 BC. It all started out like every day. Everyone woke up, ate, went to school, and did their jobs. But there was something off. Something big. Many had noticed this great /something/! The 'mountain' of Volcania was smoking. Oh! But not only that my dear readers! No! Earthquakes shook the earth. The sky changed color. It grew warmer! This was no ordinary, normal, everyday volcano. This had to be something only caused by the gods! Taaffeite stepped outside of his small home, hoping to catch a glimpse of the phenomenon but his mother quickly yanked him back. "Taaffeite! You will not step a single paw outside, you hear me?!" His mother demanded. Taaffeite hated it when his mother yelled at him. HATED IT. Taaffeite looked away, feeling the pain of anger and frustration. Why won't mama let me see what's outside? He thought. "Mama, why won't you let me see what's outside?" He asked, a hint of sadness hitting his voice. His mother couldn't bare to see her child be upset. So she made a choice. "Fine...Taaffeite you may play for a bit! But then you must return immediately back home, understand?" She looked at her son carefully, as if seeing if he would speak the truth or a twisted lie. Taaffeite nodded "Yes mama, I promise!" He grinned, now excited he could go play. He didn't even care about what was happening outside, he just wanted to play. "Okay! Have fun!" She ruffled his hair, playfully before he bounded outside. "Be careful" She muttered. Minutes had passed and the smoke had become more and more abundant! Of course, Taaffeite was too busy playing to even notice that minutes had passed or that the 'mountain' was spewing out smoke. The young kid played near the 'mountain' with his friend. This friend went by the name of Paraleptuca, although Taaffeite always called them Para for short. Para was a Sally lightfoot crab. They were playing pass with a tiny pebble that they found near the smoldering 'mountain'. "Para, catch!" He rolled the tiny pebble with a sweet, grin. Para caught the pebble and chirped and passed it back. Taaffeite had broken his one promise. It had been over an hour and he still hadn't returned home, this made his mother worry greatly. His mother was about to go and search for him but then, it happened. It all happened so quickly! There was no time to respond. "NO!" Taaffeite's mother screamed. The lava had already started flowing down like a river and the ash had blown up into the air like a firework. A blanket of ash covered the once beautiful and bright sky. There was no saving Taaffeite...he was-...gone. His mother choked back on her tears, feeling guilt and sadness. "Taaffeite..." She sniffled. Her windows were blacker than night and the door was covered as well with the darkness. She sat in the middle of the room, frozen. Was it shock? Or was it sadness? It was hard to tell, but all that was obvious was that she had lost her son and now she was alone. Her husband was at sea and still hadn't returned and Taaffeite was the only and last thing she cared about and loved. Now he too was gone. She sat in there for 3 days without water and only a bit of fruit. Then she finally left. She opened the door slowly with a cough, a cloud of ash had swept into her nose which made her sneeze. The door was kinda stiff and wouldn't move so she pushed on it once more, this time with more strength. FINALLY. She felt the first beams of the early morning light touch her face. She couldn't help but let out a small smile. But that smile quickly turned to a frown when she remembered Taaffeite. "Taaffeite?" She called out as she climbed over the piles of rubble, igneous rock, and burnt tree limbs. "Taaffeite?" She called out once more, determined to find him. She stopped in her tracks, hiding behind a piece of rubble. There was a figure that looked god-like standing near...HER SON?! She felt a sliver of hope. The figure bent down and put its paw on Taaffeite for a moment then came a bright light. (cont below)
(continued here) His mother shielded her eyes in fear she might go blind. When she looked back to see who the figure was, they were gone. To her, it must have been a god. To others a stranger or even a mere hallucination. No matter what they thought, only two people would ever know who the figure was. Taaffeite and the figure themself. She quickly ran over to Taaffeite. "Taaffeite!" She smiled and hugged him for a few minutes. Before letting go and rubbing her eyes just in case she was dreaming. Taaffeite grinned "Mama, I'm here." She looked at him. He was different, not the boy she had known and raised for 7 years, obviously, he acted the same and somewhat looked the same but...he was different. Now there were glowing souls surrounding him, horns with a glowing, pink, floating crystal, he wore a cloak and was now NECKLESS?! He also had a strange halo thing around his tail. The cherry on top was that he had only one eye!! This. Was. Weird. His mother looked at him and then looked around. Where was para? she pondered. Taaffeite walked over a charred crab, burnt to a crisp. "Para..?" he sniffled as his eye began to water. "No..Para.." He whined as he lay by his burnt friend. Only but a moment later a little glowing thing came bounding towards him. He looked up from the ground and saw the strange thing. His expression softened and a small smile crept across his face. "Para.." He looked down at the little, glowing, ghost crab. Para chirped happily and flew up onto his head. The moment was beautiful but something was nagging at her. What will they do now? Where will they go? Who was the figure and why did they save Taaffeite? Now those my dear reader are questions only you, yourself answer... "Those we don't love go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but still always near. still loved, still missed, and very dear." - Alex MacLean < t h e e n d > EXTRA [ - I change the design a little - ] [ He had a best friend, a ghost crab. You'll understand when you read the backstory!, I'll probably draw him again with his ghost crab friend! Also, yes I know that Crabs don't chirp but in this universe, they can so- uh yeah. Yeah, I know U wrote no family *evil grin* it's not in the backstory- hehehheehheehhh. Also, I apologize for the really long backstory, but I also spent like 2 hours or an hour on it so I would appreciate it if you would enjoy it or just read it <3 <3 ]
