No, this isn't anything new. As of the (canon by me) lore, Stanroy was made as a clone to defeat the powerful King Stan and take his place as an identical copy (of course though, Stanroy looks VERY different). However, there King Stan is capable of leveling entire armies to shreds with just a single punch, so it doesn't come as much surprise that the clone had to be as persistent as possible.
