Shoot targets, flick levers, and more! In the Chaos Factory, the adventure never truly ends. Long after you've mastered the game, there's still so much more left to discover. It's all in ᴛʜᴇ ᴄʜᴀᴏꜱ ꜰᴀᴄᴛᴏʀʏ. ✦ Controls ➥ Arrow keys or WASD to move ➥ Space to shoot with the cat. ➥ Number keys 1, 2, 3 to toggle pets. ➥ Down arrow or S to crouch. ✦ Backstory You wake up in a dark room, in a test tube filled with strange glowing liquid. Humming and whirring fills the air around you. Suddenly a spotlight illuminates you, and you are sucked down a winding pipe. When you finally burst out the other side, you awaken to find yourself in a colorless factory filled with strange creatures and terrifying obstacles. You know one thing. You must escape. (Hint: Don't always follow the arrows. You don't know where they might take you...) ✦ Some Fun Lore The purpose of the Chaos Factory is to make Chaos. Those "C" crates you see strewn about the level? Those are boxes of Chaos, packaged up and ready to go. Next time you see something chaotic, you know where it was made - the Chaos Factory. •✦ Hall Of Fame ✦• (People who have beaten the game) @joli569 @Lavettoca @NotThatBadAtScratch @Rockstarincoding @papierblau @ARCLIGHT4 @Poddles13 @LettuceCube @320054bh38 @NSK2120 •✦ The Origins Of Chaos Factory ✦• The game originally started with an art project I had to do for school. We had to write our game in a creative style, and I chose to write the letters as a dense factory filled with random chaos. My friend liked the idea and did the same thing. I enjoyed drawing it so much, I decided to do the same thing, except on a huge poster. I also wasn't just confined to letters this way. My friend and I worked on our poster every art class. They came up with the name "Chaos Factory" because it was a chaotic factory. We loved thinking of cool and funny things to put on the paper. In one History class, they suggested making it into a game. I laughed it off, deeming it as literally impossible. How would I code a massive platformer with so many different kinds of obstacles and features? But we couldn't stop thinking of making it. It would be my dream to make a game like that. My games at the time were very basic, most taking less than a day. The Chaos Factory would take much longer. Little did I know that "much longer" would be two years (with many months-long breaks in between). We eventually decided we would make it into a game. My friend would do the animations, help design the level, help think of ideas, and do a lot of art. I would also design the level, do art, and code it. We designated a paper to design the level, and that paper would come to be the root of all ideas for the game. I also spent a ton of time finding a platformer engine that would actually work for the game we wanted. I eventually found one I liked from @skitskitsteerloader. I didn't start coding for quite some time though, as it was a daunting project. But my friend started right away at some of the animations. One day, they came to school and showed off an animation of an ice cream truck obstacle for the game. I was blown away. It was his first-ever animation and it looks good. I was now inspired to start coding, now that I knew what effort my teammate was putting in. Now over a year later, we are FINALLY sharing the game. We had our setbacks, our moments of joy. Our lives have drastically changed since we first envisioned the game. But here it is, for you to see now. Thank you for being part of our journey. ✦ Q&A Q: How do I get wisdom? A: If you see any eyeballs, they can help. Q: This laser is always on. How do I get past it? A: Every one of those lasers has a lever somewhere to turn it off. You'll just have to find it. Q: How do I know if something is an obstacle or not? A: Only one way to find out! Q: Why is this game so good? A: Maybe because of all the chaos we used to make it. Q: Why do I have to use Turbowarp and not Scratch? A: Two reasons. One, this game has more clones than Scratch can handle. And two, the game is super laggy without it. Q: How do the animations work? A: They are drawn frame by frame, by @FalconWorks. Go check them out!
✦ CREDITS: Huge thanks to @FalconWorks for being my teammate with this project! I would have quit over a year ago without you. All those amazing animations you see are made by them. They also helped come up with the original idea of the game and countless other parts of the game. Go check them out! Massive thanks are also due to @skidsteerloader, for providing the scrolling and physics engine, as well as the player's walking cycle. Thanks to @jconway1 for providing the text engine you see here. It's super awesome!
