TW: small flash in one of the animations I am trying to be active on Scratch again, I have some projects ready to be posted and new posted ones on my alt @Cookiiewookie. I haven’t been that active on this account though. I think it’s because I’ve been stuck in an art block for a while and a lot of other things in my life. It’s becoming harder for me to create. I’ve gotten into watercolor and painting, but those take me days to make and aren’t really project material on here. Most of the stuff I WANT to make and have been making, is not stuff that scratch is interested in. I love scratch, I really do. While it does have some flaws (it should have an algorithm or something that pushes smaller creators more often) I can’t think of another platform that is so chill and nice about creating things. Going on scratch doesn’t feel like a big commitment or anything, and with this community I feel like i can take a break at anytime. That being said, while I’ve never been on scratch for followers or clout, the stuff I want to make is intended to be seen and enjoyed by other people. On @Cookiiewookie, I’m planning to make a series of content that tells a story, with clues and hidden secrets within the projects and outside of them. But I worry that what I make will not reach anyone. On this account I’ve gotten bored of drawing cats and dragons, and that stuff does get more clicks and more viewers because it’s stuff that they probably know. While rats and painting and other topics are not at all niche ideas they don’t really get given a chance as much on scratch. I see creators rant about how many dragon and cat comics there are, but the truth is, it’s because they work! they bring in people to your profile so you can make other things that they look at as well. But, while I’m not going to complain about the creators behind the comics, because I believe that they should be able to write what they want within reason, it does create a lack of diversity in stories on here, scratch’s gore guidelines also prevent horror or some more serious topics to be talked about. (While you can discuss some topics without gore, sometimes blood or injury can be useful in a story). When scratch creators grow up, they might not want to make the same comics they did or the same content they did four years ago. (that’s when I joined) And that’s ok. Most creators on here are tweens and teens, we are going through a growing stage and our interests are bound to change with us. What I want to say to summarize: I feel like I can’t make what I want on here, but I’m going to try. :)
