Serial number : HRHI125. Capacity : 16 Persons, 1200 Kg. Type : Inground Telescoped Hydraulic. Modernizer : KONE. Year : February 2004. Logic : KONE LCE (Formerly Harrington Updated relay logic). Motor : KONE Hydronic 300 (Formerly Harrington Hiss updated hydraulic motor). Starter type : Star-Delta (Formerly Solid State). Fixtures : KONE KSS 520 (Formerly Harrington updated fixtures). Location : The Ekström mall, Jönköping, Sweden. Updates : - 2007 : They have added a voice, some beeps and 2 chimes. - 2018 : They have added a new phone and new full-height door sensors. Other : This lift is located in the Ekström mall, which has opened in the end of January 1987, the lifts are hydraulic Harrington lifts, they’re the updated version of the model produced between 1953 and 1988. The updated model was launched in 1970, they have updated the logic controller, the fixtures and the pump. The doors and the cab weren’t updated. Sadly, all of these are a lot less reliable than the non-updated ones because the pump overheats a lot because these ones takes quite a lot longer to charge than their predecessors and takes a while to level. Also, the updated pumps are still dry-powered (Like the non-updated ones) but they’re quite badly designed which is a reason of why they’re overheating. A lot of these updated Harrington lifts had their pump replaced or they’re even modernized or fully replaced ! The updated relay logic controller is more efficient than it’s predecessor as it goes all the way up or down until there is no call for the up or the down direction and then the lift goes straight up/down to the ground level. This lift has only lasted 17 years before this mod which is here since 2004 ! This lift is running in a very efficient way as it has a very fast charge timing, it goes 1 m/s, the LCE logic doesn’t delay, it has pre-doors and the levelling is very quick which is a great way to prevent the motor from overheating (The oil bypasses back to the tank while the hydraulic charge and the levelling which heats up the oil, but luckily the motor room is well-cooled and the charge and levelling time is very quick, so, the oil only heats up a bit). This mod is heavy because they have refurbished the cab, replaced the doors, replaced the fixtures, replaced the logic and replaced the pump with an Hydronic 300 one which is far better than the previous pump which was badly cooled due to it’s failed design. This lift has 2 levels : 0 and -1. At -1, there is the lower shopping area and the mall’s carpark and at 0, there is the mall’s carpark, the main entrance of the lower shopping area (This lift, the stairs and the escalators leads to the lower shopping area) and hydraulic motor room of this lift. This lift is super rare but despite being modded, KONE has successfully improved the lift in terms of reliability and efficiency as Harrington’s relay logics were inefficients and the updated version of their hydraulic motors were pretty unreliable ! So, this is one of the best lift modernizations ever (This is what you expect since it’s a KONE modernization) ! To sum it up, this is a really really good lift ! The building has also been refurbished in January-February 2004. A new extension has been built between November 2022 and February 2023.
