Best known for writing the first major English Dictionary in 1755, Johnson was inimitable in his field, gathering renown for his genius in debate, scholarship, and morals. Despite his time, Johnson can be classified as an anti-racist, a proto-feminist, and an activist for many marginalised groups, including the poor, the disabled, minorities, and many others. He was also against deforestation, vivisection, and war. Today, a statue of Johnson stands outside of Saint Clement Danes, the player of this game. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ↠ What is The Strand? • The Strand is a street in London, England, known for its role within English literature, philosophy, and academia. Since the Middle Ages, it has played a central role in British life, harbouring authors such as Charles Dickens, Virginia Woolf, and, of course, Samuel Johnson. The church in the background, Saint Clement Danes, is one of the most famous individual churches there, alongside its sister church Saint Mary le Strand. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ↠ This is my first attempt at a lot of new coding, such as text engines or clones. It's actually, really, my first original game! It is, therefore, a bit glitchy - I've found that it sort of just breaks if you exit the tab for a bit and come back to it.
