Today marks 7 years since The Court Part II was released. To this day it still baffles me on how this animation garnered so much attention. It's my most original animation I have ever put out there (excluding CARS). I remember at the time, I felt like making this animation was a sign of me running out of ideas. But in hindsight, I think it represents a huge style change that will forever define my animations, including the ones I still make today. While I think it The Court as a whole has aged somewhat, especially in comparison of its sister animation in Season 3 (The Void which of itself is flawed), I still find it odd how at the time, I thought this was one of the darkest animations I ever put out. The Court and The Void are honestly two animations on this site I actively return to watch when I am making new animations, mostly because I want to be in the headspace I was where I filter all these ideas into one coherent, creatively driven piece. (And the reception from both, goes to show that passion is noticed). Even my new Flash animation, "Not Just Deliveries" (premiering on Youtube), draws inspiration from The Void regarding a car traveling scene (that I don't want to spoil; it's a surprise!) Thank you to everyone who has still been watching my content after all these years, whether it's my art on my social media, or my newer animations. You guys are the ray of hope and inspiration I still get while stuck at a dead end dishwashing job that kills my spirit and soul.
One thing I feel like I should have explored back then was Rusty's reaction to YellowHead's death, which wasn't really shown until "Your Driftless Past". In The Court, he exploded for merely a throwaway joke. In hindsight, probably not the best choice. Oops! So here's a little looping animation I made of Rusty's discovery of YellowHead's sentence. Made in Flash (Adobe Animate). I also want to make a little tribute to The Void. I don't know what it will be yet though. If I can find my old computer, I may be able to recover some of the cut scenes and animations (there are 2). @HectaVox for the original "Your Driftless Past" thumbnail peaking in the thumbnail of this animation. #all #animation #art #stories #bullruster #yellowhead #thecourt
