Chapter One A Strange Visit Memory crouched low to the grass. It was an unusually sunny day and her shadow was visible on the ground. Though she could be seen, the caribou didn’t notice her from behind until she pounced. Memory leapt onto the caribou’s back and scratched its shoulder. The caribou bucked wildly attempting to get her off, but it didn’t work. Memory bit the caribou’s back and scratched the back of its neck. The caribou bucked again, this time knocking Memory off, bruising her back left leg “Ughh,” She groaned “Dang caribou…” She got up, her left leg slightly trailing behind. She glanced up at the sky, it was orange “I better get home” She turned her head, the caribou was just standing there and looking at her. She had a sense it was making fun of her mentally. Memory bared her teeth and started to head home. She walked through the forest, taking slightly longer than usual due to her leg. Eventually, she reached the town. The town wasn’t the nicest town ever, but it was a place, sooooo. Well, it wasn’t the worst ever. It included various houses, a grocery store, a clothing store, and a bank.. When Memory got there, she started walking towards the alleyway between two white houses “I’m here” she said with her head poking in the alleyway “Over here” Said a scratchy voice “There you are!” A small brown tabby revealed herself “Sorry for taking so long” Memory said “Oh, no need to apologize'' Said the tabby “I’m just glad you're here! So, did you bring it?” Memory’s ears fell back slightly “Well, about that. I kinda can only find reindeer. Not a single rabbit.” She added when the tabby looked like she was gonna ask a question “Well, what am I ‘possed to do if you can't find any rabbits?” Memory glanced back to see if any people were passing by, there was nobody. She then whispered “Stop stealing? You know that you’re a most wanted criminal!” The mixed look of horror, anger, and disgust was shown on the tabby’s face “Well what do ya’ expect me to do?!” She spat “I can’t survive begging on the streets. Besides, I’m happy just the way it is!” There was a moment of silence after that, the two just stared at each other without saying a word. Memory broke the silence with seven words “Dust. I’m. Not. Hunting. For. You. Anymore.” She then turned around and walked out of the alleyway “Wait! Memory! You can’t just leave me!” Dust shouted, skidding to a stop when she hit the edge of the buildings. Memory turned her head around and said “Watch me.” Then, she turned her head back and started to walk away “No!” Shouted Dust, her voice cracking and tears flowing out of her eyes “Memory!!!” She shouted even louder then last time. It was no use, Memory was already walking away from Dust. She was leaving her best friend behind…
