Coal squeezed himself out of the hole, he looked around for the cat who had rescued him but they seemed to have gone. He wished that he could have thanked them. He shook the dirt and debris from his fur and headed to the moonpool. He walked down the narrow tunnel and reached the pool, dipping his nose into the cool water. Tonight, instead of his usual dreams of song he dreamt of a cat who looked like the kit he didn't rescue. She was with a black tom, talking and blushing. He sprung awake, thinking of how that could have been him with song. Tears filled his eyes and he walked back through the tunnel and into the light. He wandered through the territory, and decided to return to his housefolk.
