Instructions

I n t r o I put four examples of a colour wheel explanation for autism, and then I added three examples of what a linear scale would look like. (I added some infographics at the end for further visual understanding!) *I added an example of what a colour wheel might look like for someone who’s NT* ______________________________________ T h e / S t u f f I wrote an essay back in January about “everyone’s a little bit math genius” but honestly I could have done better, and now I see it in a different light, so let’s get into it, shall we? We talk about a colour wheel being a good representative of autism, but this is what we mean that it looks like! Any condition or disorder is really based on the EXTENT to which you exhibit the symptoms, and how many of them you have. For example, you could have autism because you show a lot of the symptoms, and a very high impact to your life of each of the symptoms. For the NT spectrum example, you can see they do have some sections shaded, but not as many and not as much as we saw for the first few examples earlier. I made it so that it shows someone with a few of the symptoms of autism. But do they have all those symptoms to the extent of someone with to autism? No, not quite. While they do appear to show several of those symptoms themselves, the extent to which they have those symptoms likely doesn’t affect their life all that much. I will say, however, it is likely that this person could have depression. So people saying, “everyone’s a little bit autistic” because they have a small amount of a couple of the symptoms is like someone saying, “oh, everyone has a little bit of asthma” because occasionally they get short of breath.
