When you click on the hair-, clothing-, or the eye button, a slider pops up. When you change the value, the color changes. Click on the button that has a question mark on it to randomize your character. Click on the skin to change kin color, and click on the background to change the color of the background. When you're finished, click on the check mark, and all the buttons and variables will disappear. Then, if you want, you can take a screenshot of your character, and even maybe use it as your icon!
