This is a vector asset for map games. You can use the map for any project you like. ===============WARNING!=============== This map doesn't respect proper country borders for various reasons like province size and population. You see, in some regions like Moldova, the map contains deliberate inaccuracies. If you found something particularly disturbing, just let me know in the comment section. ======================================= This is a base asset for any kind of map game. The region splits are based on modern and historical borders. If anybody is curious about the reasons I split the provinces this way, I can answer your questions if I'm not busy. Recently I added Anatolia and Armenia based on Province maps. No population data available right now because I ran out of will to search them =( I also have plans to add North Africa, the Levant for(the Roman Empire, cough) those who are interested. ==============INFORMATION============== 1. England was divided referencing some of the Seven kingdoms of England and the modern administrative divisions. Northern Ireland was added because Ulster had a population of around 2 million, which is the minimum threshold for a split province. 2. The France division is based on the medieval Angevin empire's ducal lands. Since modern France had its territorial integrity even in the middle ages, I figured that the modern administrative divisions wouldn't help with the country's borders, so I decided to represent the middle ages instead. 3. The Iberian division is based on the Reconquista of Iberia. You can see the seven kingdoms(Portugal, Galicia, Leon, Castile, Navarra, Aragon, Catalonia) and the Caliphate in Andalusia. I also tried to represent the emirate of Granada. 4. The Italian provinces are mostly based on modern divisions, but I merged some counties to represent some historical countries like Naples and the Papal States. 5. I added all states in the Balkans, and Kosovo was added mainly because it has a population of 2 million which was the threshold for the minimum pop count. Greece was split into Thessaloniki and mainland Greece to represent the territories during the Greek independence war and modern Greece. 6. Poland's provinces were split mainly based on their modern administrative divisions, but I adjusted them to match the borders of the Partition, Napoleonic, WW1, and WW2 periods. 7. Ukraine and Belarus provinces were split based on modern administrative divisions, but slightly adjusted to represent Austria-Hungary's partition of Poland and WW2 Poland's border. Ukraine's division also has purposes for medieval Russian principalities like Kiev Rus. 8. Russia's provinces are 100% based on modern Russian federal subjects, but the province merge contains a bit of information on historical countries like medieval Russian principalities 9. The south of Sweden(Skåneland) is there to represent Sweden and Denmark's medieval borders. 10. Cyprus, Montenegro, and Luxembourg don't meet the population threshold. Still, they got added anyway cause they are internationally recognized states, and their provinces are at least clickable compared to microstates like Andorra and San Marino. Of course, Luxembourg's province had to be enlarged to be seen on the map.
