Basically the fanmade entity is called Follow, he follows you for 3 doors and if you don't catch him after the 3rd door he damages you. You tell he's there if footsteps continue for a second after you stop. You catch him like you catch Screech. He hates darkrooms so he waits at the door while you go through it. When you go out you'll hear running sounds as Follow races through the darkroom to get back behind you. Because of this, darkrooms do not count in the 3 doors you have before the jumpscare.
